what is needed to hook these up? does it come with the correct cables and what not? or is this just a replacement for people who already have navi.. obviously the monitor would nee da retro

You would need to change your dash, put those two in your car, buy a video cable and a controller.
There is a thread about iDrive retrofit somewhere on this board which contains detailed information.
