Bump for updates haha. About to tackle this myself, wondering if a t-stat is necessary with a smaller ATF cooler.

Also, is there any way to log ATF temperature through the DME? Without an aftermarket sensor.

FWIW I've been running a similar setup (smaller bar & plate core for less pressure drop) without a T-stat as I live in CA for 2 years now and have not had any issues, changed fluid and didn't notice any debris. I think I've put about 30k miles on it with >25 track days.

It's not my DD but I'm sure to warm it up before shifting much when I do drive it

Looks like there will be no updates. I am actually building a set up myself. It is a small core though (gotta start small) however my lines are going from 13Row cooler to -8an lines and hop directly into the connectors for the AT return and feed. Using a 3/4 cap, block the line on the heat exchanger. Then I got Vader Solutions AT adapters and then its done. As for mounting location I was able to build a bracket for driver side wheel well right below the frame. I drilled two holes in 90 degree piece of aluminium and mounted the cooler vertically with lines pointing out at 90 degrees towards outside of the car and behind the cooler. Total cost was 100$ for VS fittings, 4 feet of -8 and braided lines (10$), Cooler 13 Row Setrab ($30), an 90 Degree fittings x2 ($14) and -8an straight line fittings x2 ($14).... At fluid change... I think was like $50. Total is $218. Not bad, could of been better.

Any updates? I want to do this to my 2011 328i to preserve the life of the transmission, I have the GM tranny. I drive the car hard outside of traffic on the weekends and fear about the tranny temp.

Where are you guys mounting the cooler? I found this cooler on FCP euro's site https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...551647#fitment

What hoses are needed in addition?

Thanks in advance
