Question will my e39 wheels fit?

I have a set of wheels off my old 528i with good all-season tires and am thinking of using them as my winter tires on my e92. The wheels are 15" with 225-50 tires and are ~7" wide with a 20mm offset. Size wise I think they should fit and not rub, but what I dont know is do they have the same hub dimensions. BMW used hub centric hubs to ensure wheels fit perfectly symmetrically on the hub.

Anyone used 15" or 17" wheels from a e39 on their e9x??

Thanks

You need at least a 17" to clear the 335's brakes. e39's also have an oddball 74.1mm center bore versus a 72.56mm for the rest of the Bmws. You can just pick up a hub adaptor to solve that problem though.

The offset is way wrong. They will rub like crazy.

Not necessarily....e39's ran offsets in the low 20's and oem wheels only measured 8" wide, (there were staggered setups with 9" rears, usually et24). E9x's won’t have a problem running either setup, as long as you use discretion on your tire size.

H&R makes some.

H&R makes some.
E39 runs ET20.

Ya mine are the style 19's which are ET20, 17x8. Good for winter and 225's I think. I'll slap 'em on this weekend.

let us know what happens. I don't think they'll work unless you have an M3 as far as the offset goes. Plus, you still need hub adapters to take the E39 wheels from a 74mm to your E90's 72mm.

technically you wont NEED the hub adapter correct? since the hub bore is a larger size it would still fit on the car. u might have some issues with vibration depending on the wheel. but most aftermarket wheels have larger hub bores and have no such issues

They don't fit...brakes/rotors are too big. A 325 would work I think, but not a 330/335. The design of the 2 piece style 19 rim is such that the middle section of the rim bends inward...so other 17" rims would probably work.

e39's OEM wheel offset varies dependant on wheel model. The lowest is et20, but they also run many other offsets for rear staggered setups.

Why not? Even though you are running a low offset, the oem e39 wheels are not very large or wide. Take for example, my current wheel setup: I'm running front 19x8.5 et30 and rear 19x10 et33 with no rubbing on a lowered e92. Take an e39 style 5 wheel in its largest form (Front: 18x8 ET 20 Rear: 18x9 ET 24). That’s 1 inch smaller in diameter and only 1 cm difference in offset front and 9mm rear while being half an inch skinnier in front and a whole inch in the rear. Trust me, it’ll fit.....If you still have doubts, run a stretched tire setup!

Here’s a guy running style 5’s 17x8’s with room to spare.
