n55 not past 360hp?

So i came from the 1erforum, you guys have seperate n44/n55 threads and for the first time I heard about a turbo upgrade, since most people assume the turbo is restricting tuning output compared to n54 bi-turbos, which is true...and valvetronic. but all this aside, can the crankshaft handle power especially torque much higher than stock?

obviously there are a bunch of cars already running higher than stock... much higher though is yet to be seen. So we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Say you had the maximum from full boltons and tunes. Say that was ~360hp. If you had your heads ported with larger valves.

Would you still achieve an increase in peak power as well as a better power band?

The crank is the last thing you have to worry about. Worry first about the half shafts and tranny. Then we'll talk crank...

Im not sure, call me old school but back in the day iron cast cranks were used for low powered diesel engines. I know the 1.8l turbo in mini cooper s has cast crank but not half the torque we do. tranny im thinkin ok till 400hp safer with aftermarket components of course.

I don't trust the AT. Hell I remember they use to slip on the e46 330i with anything over 350tq. I want 500+hp/tq! Then I will be happy.

I will have 500! I don't think it will take much rebuilding at 500... Maybe 600hp. I'll push this damn thing till it breaks..

Why did you get an AT?

For power I will take an old scool 6 speed MT with a good stage 3-4 race clutch over ate AT.

These same AT transmissions are pushing 450WTQ on the N54 engines.

Si. I'll break something eventually and I'll report what goes first.
