go buy an audi, lexus or any other luxury brand. $400 battery changes are due to the technology of todays cars, not bmw specific. my mother in law has a cadillac and they wanted $800 to replace the headlight bulb. many people know how to remove batteries, ask the guy whos battery exploded in his trunk because he didnt want to spend the money on having it registered. and also be cautious of the battery you buy if it is not correct your car may not operate properly. this sort of thing is the funniest thing i hear from bmw owners, they want to drive these cars, they send thousands more on a bmw then they would have on a more practical car but they cry when they have to spend a couple hundred dollars on maintenance.

This whole thread is crazy...I know its hindsight now, but I would of steered clear of a high mileage 07 335. Good luck with everything, maybe u can post something in your regional forum and maybe get another member on here to help you out, the oil filter gasket job is pretty easy.

Those are very common issues on the N52 engines. Its not the car, its the design. These are not showstopper, but they do cost a lot of money to fix.
However, you can get all this fixed for 30-40% less at the indy. The leaky oil filter housing is usually $500+tax, not $1000+ ... |

Make the repairs as cheap as possible and put lipstick on that pig and sell it. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, buy a used car, especially a BMW without having it inspected. Sound's like this car was driven into the ground.

I would guess the housing warps or cracks over time so it is not just the gasket. Looks like aluminum alloy from the picture online. They dont call superman the "man of aluminum" do they?

Wow, I recently sold my 04 Honda Accord Coupe 6MT with 163k miles and the only thing I changed in that car was the oil, not one serious repair in 8+ yrs.
Just purchased a 2011 335i E92 6MT with lots of warranty left, glad I didn't settle for an older model with more miles. I guess the message is get an extended warranty if you can.

My 330i got 160k miles now and bought it with 130k so far the only repairs are the oil filter housing gasket, expansion tank and a vacuum leak did not spend more than $300 on all. I put those 30k miles in one year only and the car is working great so far i hope stay like that.

You can't buy a high mileage 7 year old car, not professionally check it out, then bitch about problems especially when its coming off the lot of a non BMW dealer.

But that doesn't mean all probabilities greater than 0% are equal. Anecdotes about "oh my Toyota/Honda/Lexus also had problems" mean nothing, because they are mere anecdotes. The fact is that statistically, BMWs are significantly less reliable than the mainstream Japanese cars, and the 335i especially so. This reminds me of the Daily Show report couple years back on a high school teacher who believed that the LHC particle collider would create a black hole and destroy the earth. John Oliver: "What do you think the chances are that the LHC will destroy the earth?" Idiot: "I'd say 50%." J.O: "How do you figure?" Idiot: "Because it could happen, or it could not happen." Yeah. |

What do you mean? I've seen some of her other postings (mainly in the license plate thread and here), and nothing seemed that out of the ordinary. What am I missing?
