Hi folks,

I know this has been asked a few times (I searched, really, I did), but all of the posts are a bit dated.

I was considering Eibach Pro Kit springs and Koni FSD shocks for my 335i E93. Since I have read and heard conflicting reports on how well this setup works, and whether or not Koni recommends, I sent a note to Koni and asked directly.

Their reply was that they do not list the Eibach Pro Kit with Koni FSDs for the 335i, but I could use Koni yellow.

Thoughts? Some folks have raved about the combo, I have seen some reports that with any load in the car (4 passengers) the progressive springs and the shocks don't play well together....

I'd also considered BMW performance springs, but they aren't listed for the E93.

Options/suggestions appreciated. I want a slight drop and firmer performance without going too far to hard riding for a daily driver. Currently on 17" wheels, also considering 18".

I've used both Koni FSD and Sport and recommend the Sport. Looks like your best options for sport springs are Eibach pk or Dinan; I'd stay away from H&R springs. If you go this route, make sure you get shorter bumpstops. Read jwong77's thread.

I have had this exact setup, I have 19" wheels (stock bumpstops) for over 3 years and am very happy with it. Not sure exactly what the deal is with shorter bumpstops, but now I am interested.

Why would you prefer Koni Sport/yellows?

Consistant damping. FSD's blow through their travel if you hit a big bump hard.

I thought FSDs weren't designed for lowering and if you're going to run Eibachs, you're supposed to get the Yellows.

Since I've heard and read so many different opinions on this, I asked Koni directly via email. The response was that they don't list the FSD with the Eibach ProKit springs for the 335i, but that I could use Koni Sport (yellows).

I figure this is how I will go, but still not quite certain since I don't want the ride to end up too hard.

It won't be. Set the Koni sports at 1/2 turn 180d from full soft in the rear and 1 full turn 360d from full soft in front. Fronts are easy to adjust.
Per Koni: FSD's are designed to be paired with OE springs; Sports are designed for lowering and sport springs. Eibach PK springs are lowering springs..
Don't forget those shorter bumpstops if you use lowering springs

I recommended those settings based on my experimentation, pitch and your concern about ride comfort. You want less rebound damping in the rear v. front. idk about those springs; they wouldn't be my choice but should suit your needs for comfort. over/understeer will have more to do with your driving; you can make the car do either with your right foot. Try to add some neg camber up front; you're going to need an alignment anyway, so pull the alignment pins out of the strut mounts at the very least and try to get -1d camber up front.
