Question on central jacking point
So ehen i was at the dealership picking up antifreeze I told them what happened with my car slipping off the centeal jacking point. They told me there is no central jacking point and thst the spot i used was not jacking point. Is this true. I thought these "central jacking points" were real jack points...

Speaking only from exeperience with RWD versions of at least 4 different 3-series chassis going all the way back to the E30, every BMW 3-series I've worked on has dedicated locations for use as central jacking points. The pics I showed you in your other post of the E90 RWD chassis is the front central jacking point. Not shown in the pic is the plastic engine cover (under belly), which has a approximately 6" round dimpled section around the black metal rectangle. The pics you linked to for the AWD chassis has a very similar set up (i.e. dimpled area around a metal retangle) on the under bely pan for the AWD chasis, which is the front center jacking point for the AWD chassis. The jack point is moved forward a few inches from the location of the RWD chassis to make room for the front differential.

Yeah the guy at the dealership assured me there are no such jacking point and scolded me for using it to jack up my car. Are the service agents really so stupid?

There is a center jack point location. Here's a pic of all the jack points which has been posted elsewhere on this forum:
The front center jack point is #1 and the differential body (not cover) #3 is the rear center jack point. I've used both without any difficulty.

There are 6 of them.
In front you will see a metal rectangular button like piece sticking out of the plastic cover. In the back, you use the pumpkin or better known as the rear differential, and there are 2 on each side of the car located near the wheel wells. |
