Annoying squeak from my NSR wheel area

So i've got this really annoying squeak from my NSR wheel area when i go over bumps.

My local dealer thinks it from the brakes (which doesn't make sense to me) and a mate of mine who is a mechanic thinks it's more likely to be a bush or joint that need lubricating (which does make sense to me).

Any ideas from the e9x specialists out there?

Garage List
2011 M3  [0.00]
I have the same, I went to the dealer for a drive with one of their "senior service managers"

He said it is normal and they all do that. (LOL) My response: Your brand new cars all make this stupid noise and only one one side?

I also showed him my wastegate rattle (A very mechanical metal noise when lifting off) and he said its the injectors lol and wait for it.......They all make that noise?!? At this point I had to politely inform him of what a penis he was we had an awkward drive back to the garage. Apparently it is rude to request their diagnosis and not nod and say "Yes sir, I accept all the bullshit coming out of your mouth". Then he just started spewing words (VANOS, lifters, valves, the chain, and timing) and ended up listing every component of the drive train, and stated that the rattle could be from any of them (DUH)

So the moral of the story is, I'd believe your mate

Could well be the handbrake shoes mate,I see this a lot.the inside of the disc becomes corroded and swells. This then chaffes and gives you a dry squeak. But on another note I've had a few e9x's recently needing rear lower bushes for various noises, mainly a dull thud/knock

That's what the dealer thought … is it an easy DIY? Whats involved?

Why would it only squeak over bumps though if its the brakes, I don't get it?

You can remove discs and grind them down smooth again or just replace( if it is this of course).Fairly easy DIY.It makes this noise as the brake shoes move slightly on their springs as you go over bumps etc

Thanks

Just to confirm new rear brake discs and not the shoes or pads?

Hmm well you should really replace pads with discs as otherwise they can have a poor mating surface.Shoes should be ok as there only used for the handbrake.

Hmmm had new pads about 5000 miles ago, do you rekon I'd get away with it?
