The title of the thread confused me for a bit…at first I thought electric wall socket…
my brain was like “WTF did I just read?”

Not sure what you are looking to do but if on a budget I can swap it for a good unit for $100 plus shipping back to you. Or just sell you a good used OEM CHRA (that you'd have to personally swap into the housings) for next to nothing.

holy sh*t!!! Damn! I'm hella sorry that happend to you bro! I remember dropping a small screwdriver in my engine bay when I was installing my BMS DCIs last week or so. I scoured that engine bay until I found it and slowly lifted it out. I was so scared to start the car with it in there.

I've dropped a few screws and sockets before, but i always spend an extra day or two if needed to find it before driving the car. I was always afraid that something like this could happen. Next time tape up your intake tubes, that will help alot. I need to follow that advice to from now on after seeing this. Yikes. I hope its not to much of a hefty bill. Search around for stock turbos, they can be had on ebay for cheap or that bmwoem site if that dealer is charging to much for them.

About two days after installing my DCI I noticed my hood was not quite shut tight. When I pushed down on it there was resistance. I opened the hood and found a screwdriver sitting right there stopping it from shutting tight. Luckily the hood held it there and it didn't go anywhere that could cause damage. I decided right then and there that I should not be aloud to work on my car anymore

Why does the thread need deleting anyway?
I've dropped/left a few things in my engine bay before. Usually screws from the engine cover or cowl. Normally they just fall to the bottom and lie in the under tray. I couldn't be assed retrieving it but after reading this it's made me rethink it. I'm going to be much more careful. I remember I went to a dyno day once and everyone was standing around watching when the mechanic opens up my hood to attach the boost measurer, pulls out my screwdriver and hands it back to me shaking his head. How embarrassing I mate was also showing me his car one time and I'm like "what's that?", pointing to a yellow thing in the engine bay. It was his flash light haha. Shit happens. You're just unlucky that there were consequences to your mistakes. Just gotta keep plugging on and do whatever you can to avoid making the same mistakes.

I was wondering what the title "Amin Delete" means, and now I see the OP can't spell "Admin"... LOL.
Won't get on him for just crossing his fingers and leaving a socket in there knowing it might have fallen into an open DCI inlet... I totally agree it shouldn't be deleted by the mods. How else can others learn from his mistake? Seriously. Now I'll be totally paranoid everytime I work on the car with any inlet open. |

I don't understand why this thread would need to be deleted. Why cover up your mistakes? If I make a mistake, I want the community to know so they don't make similar ones. I don't care who you are or what your reputation is. I just want to have a great-running car that is fun to drive with minimal issues.
