Newbie

Hi Guys, just bought this 2008 328i base stock sedan coupe of week ago for $12.5K (hope it is a good deal). I am not a super car enthusiast but becoming one after reading the forum over the weekend, learned so many things like tuning software and devices (AA, OFT etc) and 3 state IM. Super excited about doing few things on my own.

Other than the throttle response issue (got lot of dirty looks at traffic signals) I am very happy with the car so far. I almost pulled the trigger on sprint booster until I stumbled upon this forum and learned about AA and OFT. Planning to order OFT,any thoughts?

I got AA and I do feel the difference....I also recommend the AA exhaust ,sounds great. some 19" wheels if you want/can.

Thanks for the welcome and suggestions . Do I need to change the suspensions to achieve a better look?

Your welcome bud... If you want to lower your car is up to you(i didnt). Lower it only if you get bigger wheels though. I got 19's and I like it as it is.

I'd be careful with suspension mods, like springs or coilovers, especially if you've never owned a car in New England with them. Your ride may become a little more stiff and harsh feeling than you would like. I would start with wheel spacers and or 18" wheels with 40 profile, see how you like it. I'd go 19's for looks but around here your wheels are going to get trashed with low profile tires, it's just inevitable, you can't dodge every pothole.

Sweet ride and welcome to the forums!

Just to give you a heads up.. 325i/328i/330i's all have N52 engines and there's hardly any extra hp/tq that can be pulled out of them. That being said, I would focus on cosmetics as the reward of improved looks greatly outweighs the reward of an extra 10-15hp from a tune + exhaust. Hell, you could spend a fortune with n52 headers, euro intake, performance exhaust, and AA/OFT and you would only have a 330 in the end.

Save your money on performance until after you are done cosmetically, if you still aren't satisfied then by all means spend away.

Unless, of course, money isnt a problem

Tint your windows
matte black grilles
Get some new shoes (19's Forgestar F14 super deep concave )
Spacers/coilovers
idk your style, but maybe mtech front/rear bumpers
Performance Exhaust (only "performance" mod I would recommend over cosmetics first. And I only say performance because of the claimed 5hp )

Mind you, this is only MY opinion and it's YOUR car. So do whatever makes you happy and forget the haters that think otherwise. I'm just trying to help inform you before you're bit by the mod bug. He bites hard!

Take your time, research, research, research, and ask us any questions you have before impulse buying. We will be glad to help!

Cheers to modding!

Thanks ComboSlice , I am not too much in to extra horse power. I just want to have decent power (which this car has) and good handling. The only thing I want to sort out as for as mechanical / performance issues are concerned is "Throttle response lag". I thought about sprint booster /PBX but realized that they are kind of gimmicks. Very interested in the OFT because it gives me the ability to set the mappings and read /reset codes (could save lot of money IMHO). I am definitely gonna change the grilles, wheels but I'll take my sweet time unless I find great deals.

If its a 330 then not much you can do...but a 325/328 theres still some juice you can squeeze out . It all depends if you think its worth the money for the hp gain

AA tune is good and also checkout the new open flash tablet from shiv.

I have a 325 with euro intake, 3s manifold, aa tune, exhaust...not 335 fast of course but HUGE difference from stock. 0-30 is only smoother throttle but the 40-100 pull is strong...I know the 335 folks are laughing lol
