Tyre repair goo kit
Hi,
I'm getting some non-runflat's installed this month. What is the recommended tyre inflator if/when a puncture is suffered? Is it the BMW kit (seems a bit pricey)? Will a no-name kit from halford do the job? Is there something magical that exists only on the interwebs that i should order? Many thanks! Chris |

I assume you put it in the tyre as a preventative measure? |

Yeah they do alot of bike kits too BGM
its not a preventative measure, it would go in after any damage has been done |

ContiMobility kit. Less than £30, but check the expiry date on the goop. Ford ones available, but get SMax rather than Fiesta because there is a larger goop bottle. Again, check expiry. Mike |

might just get one of these: http://www.slime.com/shop/safety-spair-70005/
it's a slime wotsit and compressor in one.. less scope for me messing it up. apparently it can also be used to inflate tyres without the goo.. just a shame it isn't digital! thoughts? |

is the goop in these washable, or does it just make a huge great unrepairable mess?

I think (sure someone will point out if i'm wrong) if you havn't got a serviceable spare, AA have no responsibilty to do anything with you. they could drive away or charge you for recovery should you get a flat.
It was an AA man that told me this. wether they would or not, i don't know?? |

Yes, as in pressure transducer, one per wheel, which wirelessly transmits individual tyre pressure and temperature figures to the computer, which displays them on the screen.
Not to be confused with the simpler pressure loss indicator. This relies on increased rotational speeds, caused by reduced diameter as a result of pressure loss, being detected by the ABS sensors. |

I take it your new 5ser has actual sensors? I'd be intested to know how theyre powered especially if they use a fancy kinetic system. |

I freely admit to hijacking the forum, but I'm a frequent visitor as my last car was an E92 and there's a much larger UK following here. My F10 doesn't have the ststem as it wasn't available at the time, but I will be ordering it for my next car and I'll be very surprised if it isn't an option on the new F30 3 series. It's only around £250 and, IMO, one of the more reasonably priced options - what you see on-screen is a plan view of all 4 wheels along with the actual press/temp figures - perfect for obsessive compulsive people like me! As to how it works, I don't know, obviously they can't be electrically powered, but I imagine that they're interrogated by a constant send/receive loop from the car's computer. |
