New custom exhaust on my e92
Here are some pictures of my custom exhaust I had done about a week ago. I removed the second resonator and replaced it with a Magnaflow 12158 single 2.5 in and dual 2.5 out. I had to relocate the charcoal/EVAP canister to behind my bumper to make room for my longer exhaust tips (2.5 in / 4” out). I will eventually replace the muffler with a dual in/dual out instead of single in/dual out.
Most people replaced the stock muffler with the Magnaflow, but I wanted to do it a little differently. If you have any questions, please post them HERE instead of PMing me, so everybody can read them. Video here: Last edited by Synergy; 01-13-2011 at 03:28 PM.. |

Oh man this looks really well done. This is exactly what I had in mind for mine. Couple of questions. How much did it cost and any power gains/loss?

I paid roughly $500. This includes the muffler, both exhaust tips, all the piping, and labor. Parts alone were about $250.

Unfortunately my camera phone sucks ass, and i dont have a cam corder. But i highly recommend you keep the magnaflow. Borlas a bit too high pitched for bimmers imo. I originally requested for the mechanic to do the same exact setup with a borla muffler and he told me to go magnaflow or go home lol. The Borla was more expensive too, shows that he wasnt just tryin to cash my ass out. Couldnt have been more happy with the outcome though, not too quiet, not too loud. Sounds just like yours.

wow definitely looks like quality work. I was going to go this route as well myself but i saw too many muffler shops doing crappy work of welding and putting it together so I just don't wana take the risk and gave up.
