Never got any error.
Can you give us an idea where your NCSExpert software came from, if it worked directly in 64bit Windows 8?

I'm having the same issue as the OP, where other parts of BMW tools work ok in W8 64 bit but not NCS, my software came from cable shack.

Thanks Chris

I gave up on trying to code for a while but if anyone can please help me set up my laptop - either windows 8 or windows 7 (prefer my windows 8 laptop tho) I would be more then grateful. If anyone is in the NY NJ CT area or can do it remotely let me know please.

Teq, for the benefit of those of us who are just starting, what cable are you using and where did you purchase it? Also where to get the software versions you installed?

I have a Feb 2007 335i and win8.1 notebook with a usb serial com port cable.

Thanks so much in advance for sharing your expertise!

I'm using an clone Icom A1 (hq) purchased from China. I'm running Windows 8.0 64 bit.
I had trouble installing ncs expert etc. to work with an Icom. Someone uploaded his version and I installed the daten myself. Everything is working since then.
I can upload my version of ncsexpert on usenet without daten. Will that help?

Wildcatcrazy rocks!!

I just wanted to put a post on here to rep Wildcat. He sent me a PM, downloaded everything I needed to my pc, and checked the connection. We had some issues with my cable so I had to solder my 7&8 pins and he helped with that and met with me again. All remotely.

It can be kinda scary to let someone across the continent control your pc, but all went great. Don't hesitate to give him a shout!!

Edit-- I was running Windows 8.1Pro and having tons of issues finding the stuff on the interwebz. Well worth the money to pay to have someone install the software and get it working!!!
