It looks like those OBD thefts have lead to a rise in my BMW premium. Facking thieving cants. Hope they all burn in hell and suffer a slow death. Car thieves and the insurance companies too... with their retarded actuarial bullsh1t system b0llocks...

Swiftcover nearly tempted me too but I found out they use 3rd party parts when fixing, also using 3rd party garages. Could be mistaken but you loose 1 years NCB for a simple windscreen claim

Would never use Swiftcover again! When my 330 vert was taken out by a Spanish lorry driver, the police were 2 cars behind and witnessed the whole event. Driver "pedro" admitted liability at the scene, Swiftcover accepted the Police findings, my account and the statement of the driver.

Cut a long story short, 2 years later i get a big hike on my premium because somebody lost the lorry drivers insurance details and they could not pursue his insurance for the costs. Put it down on my record as a fault claim due to their incompetence!

Yea doesn't sound so surprising. When my dad had an accident last year we paid the excess to have the work done at my uncles bodyshop. This has always been the way.

Could they still F*ck me for using OEM parts if I do the above? I only took out the policy a couple of days ago so I am happy to cancel if it is going to be hassle.

That really sucks. Made me a bit scared as I thought i had just taken out insurance with them but it turns out it was Swintons.

I used Swintons as it's who the BMW dealer recommended and they were way cheaper than anything I could find online.

Adelaide might be worth a try, last year was my 1st year with them and I was paying £600 for a mk5 golf Gti, I bought my 330d in mid policy and that added an extra £170 to the policy, a couple of weeks ago they sent me a renewal quote for £868, I was going to dump them as I went on money supermarket.com and found a policy for £470, called to tell them I wasn't going to renew with them and they gave me a new price of £440, I was going to tell them to stick it out of principle but couldn't be bothered with getting the no claims proof and forwarding it to new insurer.

Just goes to show how big a rip off insurance really is.

If the insured vehicle is still within manufacturers warranty, they must, by law use OEM parts.

If its outside of warranty, they "May" choose to use Non OEM Parts.

If it helps, I've never heard anything positive of Swiftcover, but have heard some horror stories about Admiral too.

Same as most cases.. You get the quality of cover you pay for.

So bloody annoying!!!!...most of the cheaper car insurance companies have got lots of bad reviews!!!!!....Not surprised as I know the whole industry is fcuked up, but really struggling to find one company with good reviews!!!!

Keep in mind people generally tend to write a review when they have had a bad experience, so I doubt you will find many good ones. Avoid the known cheap ones. I'm with LV, always seem competitive and I believe are amongst some of the better insurance companies out there.

Is anyone in the insurance game? A forum sponsor with a cheeky discount for members would be good! There was a chap on a CTR forum I used frequent who offered his services and saved a lot of people a lot of wonga, and definately increased his sales by a fair few. Win win for all!

Its silly really I have a Spanking clean license no points, and myself havent made an insurance claim on any of my cars in 10 years of driving. So I often overlook the "renew Insurance" decision.

there is a 14 day cooling off period, But it would be against my principles to give them money and take it take without giving them a chance.

P.s I was with privilege for 4 years but they were 1k higher than quotemehappys price. lol Crazy.

My insurance is from swiftcover and they send me email to tell me that my insurance from 15/01/13 will be "AXA". And as far as I know this is one of the biggest company.
You can take your premium even well known insurance and if they want they will not gona pay you.
Bigger company- smaller laters.

when my first e93 was stolen (not by obd theft) swiftcover were great and paid out after 6 weeks which is what they said they would do. what i don't like about swiftcover though is that their policies does not allow you to mod the car in anyway except after market wheels to a max value of £1k.
Got to say I never read the small print about them using other parts!

Last year I was with quotemehappy, but AXA actually turned out cheaper this year. Think it was a couple of quid over £400 inc hire car, protected ncd etc etc.
