forget it, retrofitting a navigation to an idrive is fine, but retrofitting a whole idrive system requires to replace the whole dash as well as the center console, imagine all the wiring and coding you would need. you are looking at at least 20k-30k in parts. let alone installation and coding..

you need new dashboard (the whole dash), new center console (the whole unit), idrive bits (LCD, knob and new computer), and complete electrical wiring harness and a a lot of little bits to put everything together.
Then you need someone who know knows what they are doing to code the car, i.e. tell the computer exactly which parts it has so it all works together. the idrive is the brain of the computer and is much more than stereo and nav. i controls door locks, engine status, lights, ac among other things. I would guess 50k in parts alone and atleast a week of labor. why don't you buy my 2010 325i with idrive from me ? gives me an excuse to get the 6GC early...

Easily done in US or Canada.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=611032 In HK, all we have are 3rd party stuff. Not much retrofitting here. |

Even if you can get it done here in HK, you gotta ask yourself "does it worth?" the time and money spent? Not to mention there is high chance of follow ups. I have I-drive with GPS on mine, but I honest don't use the GPS much at all, the i-drive is only good for storing and display the songs.

That's a fair point! I could do it that's not the issue but if it's done but doesn't add to the drivers experience then it's a big question mark.
Ok does it increase the value of the car? |
