335d pics - e92 sapphire black, black wheels & M3 lip

done a few mods......

Black wheels, black badges, M3 lip, black carbon fibre wrapped inside (not in these pics though). Cyba tips going on next week.

Have to say the ammount of people staring is quite a few. Especially when cruising in the slow lane or through towns in slow moving traffic. Starting to see more & more black wheels.

Pics taken after a quick wash ( spot the soap suds) but to be honest the car looks so so much better when rolling which I think is down to how the wheels look when turning. Would post a few videos if I new how. Might have to be on Youtube when I get round to it.

Tidy job Jimmy,looks mean

You need something like this to finish if off:

http://www.bimmian.com/Shadow-Vehicl...W-E92-3-Series

You can get them in matte/gloss or CF,personally I'd pop down the dealers and order a new set & spray them up yourself.

Smoked side indicator lenses would also add to the aesthetic.

Cheaper on the 'Bay' though

Am i missing something? I cant find Uk?
I was told by my local dealer you can only order them in chrome & chrome can not be painted, it will flake off within a few weeks/months, unless completely sanded down to the plastic beforehand?

Is this right or is it all lies?

Each to their own but IMHO you have spoiled a great set of wheels.

You can only get OEM badges in chrome, but a quick rubover with some fine wet & dry and you can spray them any colour you want.

Agree about the chrome as well. Not sure if it makes the tint look odd? I'm just comparing it to my black saloon, theres a bit of a gap with the pillar post trim and I have wind deflectors as well which I think ties it together better...

I'm guessing it's illegal to have [darker] front window tint?

really tastefully done ... love the wheels !!

i allways think when modding a car, all mods should be part of the overall theme, i mean not one single mod sticking out from the others. I think you've done that well ... except like has been said before, the window trim sticks out too much against the rest of the black theme. appart from that

(edit: i see youve sprayed the SE lower front mesh black, i tried doing that with a few products but it allways chipped. A freind recomended spraying with that latex black spray which lasts a lot longer)

update.....

went for black wheels cos the muppet that sprayed them silver made a crap job (looked good last year but after putting them back on after being wintered they were flaking off so went the powder coat route (very tough finish) but didnt like the silver they had so went for black) £120 for the wheels in black + £40 for refitting tyres etc.. Otherwise car would have still been standard looking.

will leave the Chrome trim (shadow line ?) as I will probably go back to silver next year & most of it is easily reversible.

Also got 15mm spacers on the front & 13mm on the rear but on the odd occasion with a rear passenger the back right wheel just catches the arch but the rear left is fine for some reason.

Rear window tints are standard ( as far as I know) think my car had every option looking at the list of available otions for it but sometimes the tints look quite subtle & dont really stand out yet in the pics they do. Almost as though they are reactorlites.

having done the grill (sprayed the verticals black & the surround is wrappred in carbon fibre) the bottom mesh looked odd in the original greyish colour so I had to pait them black. Could have done it in position but took the bumper off, took them off & spayed them with a plastic type paint which is holding well & polished the fogs up at the same time which are now like new. Having put all that back together the intercooler then stood out so had to spray that black to.

Was going to wait until it was polished with my porter cable, black the tyres & with the new cyba tips on before posting any pics.

Another little mod is on the reg plate ( front & rear) that you wouldnt see in the original pics... see below
