Test drove a 5.0 Mustang and Vette Grand Sport yesterday...

Mustang was kinda sloppy...but the Vette...actually felt pretty nice.

The 5.0 was the RT version which had upgraded wheels, intake and also the Roush exhaust. Sounded amazing but didn't care for the interior at all...very ugly and bland interior. The seats sucked as did everything else. Very plastic feeling inside. Also felt very boat like as well... I felt really high up in the car and just didn't do anything for me.

Went to drive a Grand Sport right after and that was a much nicer car. Still wouldn't buy it as I had the feeling I was sitting in a 30ft long sports car. I had trouble seeing over the hood as it was so damn long. Felt very grounded and the car was completely built around the driver. Seats were great as were the ergonomics around the drivers side. Car had some power too...and the price was great! Big brake kit and a massive engine felt really nice.

Thought I would share...but yes I can see why people buy Vette's. Very great bang for buck!

Yeah, my first track day I caught a ride with an advanced run group student who had a C6 Z06 -- totally blew my mind. He hit the front straight at 80 MPH and floored it, and it pulled from 80 to 135 about as hard as my M3 pulls from 30 to 70. I agree about that sensation of driving such a long car, though I feel that way when I get into an E89 Z4 as well to some extent.

The new Mustang has optional Recaro seats which I'm told are amazing, but yes the stock seats aren't so hot and I too find the interior drab overall. The Vette can have a nice(r) interior with the 4LZ package, but it's still not going to match the E9x. However, given how drop-dead gorgeous the new Viper's interior looks -- by any standard at all, never mind compared to the previous Viper, and especially with the Laguna Leather package -- I'll be VERY curious to see what happens with the C7 Vette.

^ Where? All I've seen have been mostly-uncovered spy shots and renderings.

I drove a new Camaro recently. What a great car. Interior is a little weird but great value and they TURN now!

I've driven a '13 Boss 302 and its an awesome car. Really surprised at what they've done with the Mustang. That 5.0 at 7500rpm with the sidepipe opened up sounds ridiculous.

As for the 'Vettes, I had a modded one for 4 years have driven everything from based C5's to modded ZR1's. Never let me down. Will buy a C6 Z06 or C7 in the next few years hopefully. For performance, I like driving them much better than any BMW I've been in.

You can get a great deal on a grand sport vette now for 44K, amazing performance at that price point.

Never been a fan of muscle cars. IMHO they can carry great horsepower but they also lack on everything else....

I had my heart set on a Boss 302 before i got my e92. I wanted something loud, fast, it was time for a muscle car attitude. I test drove a GT cause the boss wasnt in stock yet just to get a mustang feel before i ordered the boss, same thing. What a POS inside, cheap plastic everything. Im like 45k for the interior of a ford focus rental? GTFoutta here. So i walked on that idea and got my e92.

Neither of these are muscle cars in the 1960' sense. The Vette of course is a true sports car and does everything well except for it's interior and the Mustang GT (I assume you mean GT not RT) handles and stops pretty darn well. It's easily the best handling car in it's segment.

You could be right, but with all due respect they still suck to me....

What's "everything else"? Great ride, A/c, heated seats, great brakes, fantastic torque?? When zooming down the road, one does not pay much attention to the cruddy plastic and grade B leather.....
BTW..we have both, an E93 (hers) and a Z06 (hers and mine). There is totally a different mindset when driving one vehicle or the other, as they are both sporty, but in totally different ways. Both cars have been tracked on HPDE events. One is like "this is really great..let's go flat out" and the other is "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!..Crxp! Let's do that again!"
PS: I am sixty five and have owned and driven everything from VW's to Volvos, BMW, plenty of GM's, Nissans and even a Lincoln Mark VII (cool!). The Z and the E93 happen to be the nicest to own and drive.

The 2013 3 series loaners that I have had are just not right!

I guess MPG isn't entering into this discussion. I like my power and efficiency too.

With all those mods. 5.0s are under or around the 4.5 mark stock, plus they don't have hpfp problems, and since it is N/A the engine feels much better. Two totally different cars, performance wise the 5.0 takes it, quality wise the bmw takes it, but not by much.
