For some reason I just hate all head units. I swear I haven't seen one that I thought actually looked good. Maybe they are all just way to flashy for my style.
Anways, The subs... A+

Yea, the color options were limited with Alpine head-units. The older CDA models offer "amber" options, I just preferred one with usb front and rear, aux front and rear, and 3 x 4V Pre-out's so I had to settle for the blinding neon blue.
Thanks for the comments. |

Thanks for the compliment on the music choice, love me some rock and metal. However, the subs are not Rockford's they are Alpine type R's (SWR 1043 4Ohm DVC) 600rms each. Actually the best sounding subs I have ever heard reproducing double kick bass and percussion instruments used in most hard rock songs. JL's are too "boomy" for me, hence I went with the Alpine's with a sealed enclsoure. The amp is a Rockford T1500-1bdcp 1931 x 1 at 1. Door's and rear shelf have Focal Polyglass 4" comps Powered by Rockford T400 77 x 4 at 4. Under front seats are the SWS 8" (terrible subs would not recomend them) powered by a Rockford T500 mono paralleled into 2ohms. |

Yes the W7's are good quality woofers. Great at handling high power and being reliable. Nope no cap, just an external 200amp battery paralleled with the 775amp after market standard battery. How do you have your subs wired? |

I am actually trying to start a hobby/side job doing custom audio builds. I.e. enclosures, sub floor amp mounting, etc. Not that I need the money, but that I enjoy mobile audio along with woodworking. Hence wanting to start something to relate to my interests and help other people enjoy their audio products a little more.
I'm actually not a big fan of cap's. When I was younger I use to run them when I didnt need them. Usually just for looks. I just think caps are really inefficient. Sure they store energy and can release it very quickly, but after 2 or 3 times of your frequencies hitting around 20-30 Hz. your cap is done and needs to be charged up again making your battery work just as hard trying to charge your cap while still powering your amp. I am no audiophile by any means but I do teach math and physics at WVU so I understand the process of most electrical components. I bet if you changed your cap to an ext. battery you would see a huge improvement in your electrical components. I bet those JL's do sound good. Have any pics to share? |
