Spec 2+ clutch + SM flywheel installed.. questions now.
Its been 600+ mixed driving miles since my clutch install on my 335XI. Pedal feel is stiff, but fine. Since I'm past the break-in period, I've had one or two full WOT pulls and it seems to be holding fine.
One concern is the shudder/shaking on take-off. Since I've never had an aftermarket clutch, I have zero frame of reference. I simply cannot smoothly take off from a stop. I've been driving manual transmission cars exclusively since 1993, and for the life of me, the car shudders/shakes pretty bad on take-off. Raising the RPMs helps, and its butter smooth once moving, but man... My twin 3yr old boys ask me why our driveway got so bumpy! Is this normal for a spec 2+ w/their SM flywheel? Also, sidenote... Dealer (getting coolant flushed) just called and said the car is moving when the clutch is pressed in? I have not experienced that at all, hoping their tech just isn't pushing the clutch in all the way?? |

Between the segmented side of the disc (one side only) and SMFW conversion yes normal. You'll learn to drive it smoother/should lessen some with a lil more usage. I don't have a 335 SPEC 2+ clutch but I've had a SPEC 2+ and several other segmented and SMF conversions. They can be annoying for stop and go driving.

Is your rattle bad? Just got my car back and my rattle is horrible! Even driving at 30mph you can hear it horribly!!! When foot on clutch all the noise goes away. When clutch is out, the rattle and grinding noise is terrible! Sounds like a broken diesel truck. Is this normal for break in period?

my car is the same way. I have about 5000miles on the clutch now and its still grabby. I like it because I know its doing its job. I also have the CDV delete done. Just something to get used to

Pretty sure it's normal. I have the 3+ and it's tough to be smooth from a stop but i've found the best way is to rev it to 1500 then let the clutch out at a good pace. Don't drop it but don't try slipping it either. It grabs hard so it doesn't like the back and forth slipping it likes to be either going or not

http://store.uucmotorwerks.com/artic...uce_rattle.htm I had my transmission oil changed per that formula listed, and I have only the slightest (nearly inaudible) rattle. The only downside is shifting is a bit notchy and getting into 1st and reverse is harder from a stop. In fact, I haven't heard any gear rattle since the first day of the install. |
