I am so happy that they are staying in sports car racing. I hope they got to LeMans too in 2013.

That would be incredible, but I don't see it happening. Something like this could actually take the fight to the GT3, but if it were to happen would probably only be in very limited quantities to not threaten F80 M3 sales.

Great news!

I can't wait to see BMW back in the game with the Z4 at Laguna this coming year.

LOVE EET!!!! It's a good time to start watching ALMS for me. Not that I wouldn't cheer for BMW anyway.

Wonder what they'll bring out...would LOVE a PRODUCTION Z4 M with S65.

Just heard from Grand-Am rep they are using the M3 in 2013. ALMS and RLL are a 100% go with the Z4!

Actually a good question. The Z4 GT3 runs race derivative if the 4.4L V8 producing 515hp.

The outgoing M3 GT ran 4.0L V8 (P65), pushing 485hp.

Now that homologation rules now longer count. I guess they should be free to run the 4.4L.

So the homologation rule of 1,000 engines produced and 100 street cars produced, is being taken out of the rule book?

Not sure how I feel about this. Do I want BMW to leave endurance racing...NO. But I am not happy about this liberal bending of homologation rules. Manufacturers use to have to put some forethought into racing and what they needed in production cars in order to meet strict homologation rules.

So this basically this paves the way for manufacturers being able to run almost any powerplant in their GTE class car. All the other manufacturers should definitely take advantage of the rules bending that BMW is benefiting from.

I guess there are no repercussions for BMW going to an all-turbo lineup at the dealership. BMW can now run the next gen M3 in GTE without a turbo engine.

Good that they are leaving the race and yes there must be many manufactures who would be happy for this and they can get a lot of advantage for them!!

With the new 991 GT3 RSR, doubt theyll be much fight. I suspect their dominance will continue as it has since ALMS has started.

I def do like the Z4 though, but the GT3 is the ultimate IMO.
