Dyno numbers are out, Terry went to the dyno today with the N55.... Results are on N54tech and **********.

i just saw it too... best run was 293hp and 296tq on the N55 135i DCT.

so assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, thats about 345hp and 350tq... that is also assuming the DCT transmission isnt more or less inefficient than the 6AT or 6MT.

this is very good news for the new N55!!! if this is true, then the N54 335is must be seriously underrated as well if its gonna stay ahead of the standard N55 335i.

It looks that the power up top is higher (8-9hp more than the N54), but the torque is lower (-10 Nm).

I am comparing these graphs which I suppose are done on the exact same dyno (used by BMS).

However, the N54 has an automatic gearbox, higher losses compared to the DCT.

well i guess that lays a bit of credience to my test drive that EVERYONE (except for a few) doubted with great vigor..

i have no personal (or professional stake in getting anyone to drive the car) interest, but i do drive for a living and I glad to see the dyno shows my butt dyno it well calibrated (only kidding),im still holding out for the 335iS myself..

congrats to all new n55 owners --- and can hear the crowd roaring "let the tuning begin!!"

and you can see from the dyno that the torque curve peaks quicker, and is a lot flatter .. thats what you feel in the car.. its power delivery is a good bit different than the N54... it reaches the its peak torque in a shorter time and smoother delivery... no?

OK, OK, you win

I am just glad I opt for E92 335XI (with N55) over S5 now.

Sure bro.
I wanted to believe your review just didn't want to have my hope dashed later

Yep the N55 is trickling down to west coast as we speak, I have a vert with auto to test at my dealer. So I need to drive my 535i in sport mode often now and reset adaptaion on the way to dealer. I'll let you know my impression.

Well...no

On 91 octane, the N54 graph begins at 2000RPM, with 290lb-ft at 2200RPM, while the N55 has 290lb-ft from 2700RPM but it begun too late at 2500RPM so you have no way of knowing what's below that.

Sorry but your test drive is indeed doubtful

Terry from BMS said that "the engine is softer down-low", "there is increased turbo-lag compared to N54" and "overall it is a downgrade from N54". So how can we believe your "the car has an afterburner" review ?

Terry post an overlay of N54 vs N55 and I can't say it's big diff on torque or HP graphs between the two, strange the N55 has slight better torque/HP curve at higher RPM which defies single turbo norm that it'll be out of breath there?

Hard to say cause the dynos is from different days, I'll say N55 is about the same as N54 with more lag. I am glad I'll have 6-sp on my N55.

well seeing that he is tuner, and iam a average joe, driving non tuned, and unless youre Mario Andretti Jr. -- u will feel a significant difference in the car..

No matter your skeptisim, i still feel for you -- maybe some one bullied you went you were little or took your toys away.. but believe me, itll be ok in a little while.. i think they still do Toys for Tots

oh, by the way this both these car are WAY "laggy" compared to my '93 Mustang -- so go figure .. you want to ride, and see the difference??

this will get sorted out in the long run, no additional comments will follow -
