Anyway to prevent peppered windshield at track events?

Every time I got the track I tape up the front of the car and it has worked wonderfully. Unfortuantely, there is nothing I can do about the windshield. Its starting to really pepper up with tiny little nicks.

I hate how some a-holes think its ok to use the whole track and then 3 feet off each side of the track as "theirs".

So anyway, am I just SOL, or is there a way I can save my poor windhshield from more dispare?

Thanks

Garage List
I usually use the whole track surface..but I might get 2 wheels off maybe one time per day...only when I am really pushing it. I have not had issues with this in my street car..but TWICE in my race car someone thru up rocks and cracked my windshield in my Spec Miata. I dont think there is anything you can do except stay back far from people who drop 2-4 wheels off..or not drive at all.

I've seen a windshield equivalent to speedfilm, but the guy I saw who had it got frustrated with it and peeled it off in the wet.

As great as we'd like to think the 335i is, there are plenty of faster cars out there and in the advanced groups, you have some damn good drivers.

Of course, there is always faster cars. Running with them isnt an option I can just check in a box. Im sure they would completely WAX the 335!

But Im in intermediate. M3's, 997T, Z06's, Ferrari's here and there, Lotus Exige's, Elises ect ect. The dude with the R8, Ultima and guys with full blown race cars run in red group. They wont move me up until I do an assload of events. Unfortunately, I cant free up 3 grand and 10 weekends in a row to get there all that quick.

I might just try this stuff out. When I had my car at CA Speedway, the entire front of my car got peppered during a parade lap during which we took a detour and drove around the entire oval. Since we had not been using it all day, it was filthy. Front bumper, hood, windshield...ugh...

My friend had the clearplex stuff on his car, it didnt work very well. He had it installed twice, then after a month the view out the front was still wavey and distorted. Not worth the price IMO.

I wouldn't race with the club if they allowed people to pull that shit all the time, the one I drive with you put wheels off and you have to pit for a little chat.

I'M the friend that had it on. The price is from $150-$200 here in Utah. I was really hoping it would work. Looking straight out the window it didn't distort much. The problem was looking at an angle. It would be wavy.

If you decide to get this stuff make sure they let you see a car that was done. Sit in the drive seat and look through the windshield. Don't let them just show you a little piece they have in the show room to look through.

One more thing. They will tell you it doesn't scratch that easy. Bull Shit!
