Regarding air intakes

Since they have an extended warranty on turbos, would changing the air intake system prevent replacement of turbos under warranty?

Also, it seems that the BMS dual cone intake is the best bet for the money, performance, and sound. From what I read, the hot air is less important than air flow with regard to turbos. However, I am sure my wife won't love the loud whoosh sound and I like the simplicity of the stock air box. Which brings me to questions about the alternatives:

1) update: got the afe pro dry filter for $71 including tax and shipping from autoanything

2) how does the mr5 air intake system (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333538) if the stock box still has a restrictive outlet?

3) is the helix hybrid intake (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=663807) as good as the mr5 air intake but easier to replace the external air filter? would the hot air on the external air intake be an issue (i assume it is less hot air than dci)? Will the second external filter provide enough positive pressure that the air from the stock air filter won't backflow into the external filter?

I would just get the bms style dual cone filter, you won't be disappointed. Easy to install and sounds cool, but does not in any way sound distracting or obtrusive. Your wife won't be able to tell the difference at stock boost with stock dv's, so nothing to worry about there. Also, dci will not affect turbo warranty.

You'll want to remove any modifications before taking the car in for dealership work. As for the intakes, the sound that the BMS intakes make really isn't super loud. I highly doubt that your wife will complain about it. The helix and mr. 5 intake set ups will probably make just as much noise.
