Yet (Another) Shipping Wheels/Tires thread
So I sold my wheels/tires on eBay and I went to UPS and FedEx tonight to see what it would cost to get the shipped from VA to WA. FedEx told me $170 PER WHEEL, without any packing materials (total-$680) and UPS said $355 total with packing materials.
I know this has been asked before, but good grief, there has to be a better way. I've searched and searched and it seems like everyone here estimated between $150 and $275 on the high end for shipping. What gives? Does anyone have any thoughts on other options? |

this would be the cheapest way but the buyer would have to pick them up. it'll cost about $40 per wheel |

Did you go to the UPS depot, or just to a shipping store? Depot price can be a lot different.
Consider shipping them in 4 boxes, as well. You pack them and deliver to the depot. I just did a sample calculation on the UPS site, figuring 40 pounds per box, and using San Francisco to DC as a close approximation of your shipment. Web site quoted $53.33 per box, including $100 insurance, delivered to a residential address. Additional insurance is extra. Do you know what they actually weigh?
