Feedback on jbd tune

So after many years of tuning Honda's and VW I decided to give that all up and you can say grow up and I got my first BMW. Its a 2011 335d and although I wanted to leave it as is I can't get rid of that itch to tune the car. I was thinking of the jbd and have been doing search's for days and it all seems positive but the thought in the back of my head of ruining a 40k won't go away. I don't want to void the warranty since it only has 12k on it and have years left. That's where this post comes in a lot of the threads are years old so anyone with it that can spare a few minutes and give me any feedback, issues anything would be very appreciated.

I've had 2 tuned under warranty 335's with zero dealer problems so don't sweat that. I'm not a huge dorsal expert but I know BMS makes quality products so I know you'll really enjoy the added power and steering wheel features.

most folks love it. its definitely the cheapest, easiest, most warranty-friendly mod you'll ever see when it comes to time + money in vs. power out.

There are downsides (if you're looking for them). You will not want the dealer to know you have it. you will want to purchase the cable to remove shadow codes. As it is a piggy-back and not a true retune, it is not technically as high-quality a way to tune the car as-say-the RennTech tune for example. Added power does mean faster degradation, but no one has found any signs of premature failure due to the JBD of which I am aware.

That's what I like the most that I can remove the part when a trip to the dealer is needed. But I do want this car to last as long as possible maybe I'm just over thinking this and babying the car to much.

The diesel does not like to be babied - seriously.

The JBD is adjustable so if you are apprehensive about the long term consequences leave it at the default 65% setting or dial it down to 35%.

...or just keep it at 100 (you will). I told cssnms I would keep mine at 65. It was at 95 within three days...sooooooooo addictive.

If that's the case my car must be furious. I couldn't take a drive without pushing my previous cars. With this one I get told I drive like an old man...

Diesels like to be worked and this engine does not work hard enough just slugging along. There is specultion that it contibutes to more carbon build-up. Drop that hammer more often, your engine will love you for it.

I've had mine on for going on 2 years and I love it. 67,000 miles and nothing but smiles. The jbd is really a great plug n play upgrade. It's a great bang for your buck modification. Good luck and congrats on the D!

I also baby mine. But there is no ramp to any highway that i do not floor it
Torque is addictive. I knew it before my D.
However I stay away from AFTMKT tunes. Added power means faster wear. Agree with FormerRotor on that.
Aside the injectors on this engine are indeed sensitive. And any tune messes up with injector cycling. There is no way to add power without adding fuel.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I think I'm going to take the plunge and buy it. Found another member selling it since his lease is up with scan cable for a great price.

I have the RENNtech flash and if you want bang for your buck then JBD, RENNtech is expensive but well worth it. Trust me either way you never going back to STOCK!!

My dealership is pretty mod friendly. I had a recall done and forgot to take out the JBD. All the tech did was unplug it, do the reflash, and plug it back in.

The only downfall to the JBD is the once a month (atleast for me) limp mode and code. I have mine at 100% and it occasionally throws a limp mode under acceleration. I just went out and bought a Scanguage 2. It clears codes for me on the spot and stays plugged into my OBD. It also serves as a temp readout and a few other stuff.

Wouldn't it be nice if all dealers were like this life would be so much easier. I don't have much experience with mine only been there once for oil change.

It would be nice if all were mod friendly. The problem is that most times increasing performance is directly related to more wear and shorter life. The nice thing about JBD is you can take it off so the dealer doesn't know. Tune would be better, but I like a 5 minute removal when I need to go to the dealer.

If I were you, I would've installed there and gotten an hour of quality time with the car we're anxiously awaiting your thoughts!

Thats what my friend who came along wanted to do also but it being Newport we felt like we stuck out like a sore thumb and it being that hour made it worse.

As for the jbd all i can say is holy shit .... I took it to a empty dead end street and let it rip. She scared the shit out of me and its only set at 75. Great investment!!
