tyre valve question
Can someone tell me what and where i can get replacement wheel valves for the BMW style 230 5 spoke twist alloys?
I have just had my wheels refurbished and need to replace the valves Apparently they are not part of the tyre pressure monitoring set up!! Any help would be gratefully received |

They're just standard schrader valves as fitted to about every car in the world. Any tyre place.

Simple fact is you do not need a TPMS valve. I have short valves on my 230's (all of a fiver) - they look nicer. Apart from that I dont know what they are on about. |

If Lepsons tell you that "you need a specific valve for this wheel" (which is nonsense) then ask them to clarify.

BMW fit some 'nicer' stainless valves as standard to some of their wheels? Maybe this is what they are referring to? I had them on my 225M's on the 'vert.
+1 as to others comments tho - any standard valve will fit, just some won't look as nice. |

Are they trying to sell you a set? becuase I'd have thought Lepsons would keep valves, as they offer a tyre removal service in house

Yes, I have the metal valve stems.
But you can fit rubber its no big deal. If they have refurbished them, what have they done with the original stems? Just fit new valves and re-use. Steve.

Thanks for the info, The chap that quoted the BMW part number was correct.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...78&hg=36&fg=15 As stated specific valves for that wheel and not part of the TPMS so no contridiction there!!!! Original valves in poor condition hence the need for new. Regards |

I had my wheels refurbed by the Wheels specialist, standard rubber valves were free.
But I paid £1 extra each for short rubber valves with chrome sleeve stems and caps, they look great and appear to be a metal valve to anyone looking. |

I have the 230's and recently had the tyres changed and the guys there said that the valves were the pressure monitoring type, but the car does not have the pressure monitoring system (only the standard ABS monitoring like the guys mention above).....Go figure, but i did get the wheels 2nd hand, so maybe there are set up for specific cars/systems.
Not sure about any of it but im sure you can just get the ones that are on RealOEM. |

If there are TPS in those wheels, they definately are not original BMW EU fitment.
USA have them, and there are some good aftemarket units that give live data to a small lcd pendant in the car. Quite good if you do track work actually.
