Oil Leak?

Hello,
I have a 2007 328 coupe with about 83k miles. I have some pretty bad bucking during low RPM acceleration, so I went to clean the VANOS solenoids. I noticed there's quite a bit of oil around that area. See attached pictures.

Has anyone seen this before? Could this be a result of some sort of leak or a messy repair job in the past? I'll clean the area and check on it at a later time.

Thanks for the help.

Check around the bottom of the oil filter housing and see it its wet down there. Oil leaks down and back. Start with the highest thing. Don't really see vanos solenoids leaking (pictured) but that could also be possible.

I appreciate the responses - I'll have to look into that.

Hey guys, so I did some closer looking today, and there is oil is covering the front of the block and is in a lot of other places on the block. I think I have both the oil filter housing leak as well as the valve cover leaking. I'm going to have a fun weekend fixing this... Anyway, check out the below pictures, you guys think I'm correct in thinking the valve cover and oil filter housing are leaking?

I appreciate the input.

edit: some of those are a lot closer up than I remembered.

First picture is obvious - oil filter housing
Second picture shows massive amounts of oil on the front of the block - this sucks, sorry
Third picture shows oil covering the front of the block near the belt
Fourth fifth shows suspected valve cover leak on the passenger side of the engine
