What Bulbs do E92 LCI use for Halo Rings?

Guys
I was under the impression that E92/93 LCI headlights use xenon kit for halo rings and thats why they were so bright.

Looking at real OEM
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...08&hg=63&fg=05

It shows that BMW uses H8 bubls for the halo rings.

Is that correct?

If so, why are they so bright compared to pre-LCI or E90/91 LCI xenons?

Have they re-designed the halo ring structure / tube in the LCI headlights?

Thanks.

Thanks Tom.
Next question is why are they so bright compared to other pre-LCI / LCI e90/91?
Have they changed the make / design of halo rings?

Actually, one of us should look at the price of those h8 and retrofit those H8.

The H8 in that diagram is for the inner cornering light. H8 is a normal halogen "yellow" bulb and was used pre-LCI.

The current "bright" corona rings are LEDs built in to the tube.

Sorry, I've just realise I read your question wrong.

LCi models are running LED bulbs - one in each ring (4 total)

Pre-LCi models run H8 bulbs - one bulb per side

They are dim due to the voltage/wattage specified
LED bulbs on the newer models are run using quite a high duty cycle

This question was a nice food for thought..
http://www.bmwetk.info/parts-catalog...108/63/63_1208

Part 13..

Also, Item 2 is the bulb for the turn indicator...
H8 is not the turn indicator..

So why is the H8 there???

Very curious!

Item 17 is the turn indicator (LED array) - the H8 is the cornering light.

Thanks guys for your response. It make sense now.

I guess LCI E92 headlights cannot be retrofitted to LCI e92 unless you change the bonnet and possibly bumper?
I guess they have different shape to pre-LCI headlights.

Yip..
Bumper and hood need to be replaced, from what I read..

But hey, there might be other ways.. Just need to get my hands on a pair to experiment! (expensive theory!)

Deep
You are raising my hopes
You can bake and get the LEDs out of LCI to Pre-LCI (possible?). But you have to wait for the damaged pair to pop up on fleabay and bake your headlights as well.

Good idea.

Sadly, for E90/91 owners Halo rings on LCI lights are not as bright as LCI E92/93, therefore owners of E90/91 are left with the aftermarket rings.

well, you see,
The LED repair kit, item 13, could be procured from the dealer..
I think it is somewhere in the range of £100...

Just another trail of thought..
