I really appreciate all your testing since it applies to the street. I rather see the difference of all the mods to the car and see how much speed it gained compared to the hp/tq I would see on a dyno.
However, I hope you resolve your boost measurement. I would like to know with certainty the amount of boost you are running. Saying that it isn't a problem that your boost gauge(s) are .5 to 1.5 psi off is like saying that the trap speeds at Sac are not a problem as well... |

OK, that's cool. I saw the videos with the different boost gauges.
Regarding the boost measurement through data logs, I don't know how it is with JB, but with the Procede, Shiv says that the boost reading from the canbus logs will be higher than the boost reading from gauges. I'm not technical enough to explain it, but I know it's posted somewhere... Also, you said you're running map 9, so you should be seeing a much higher boost. So, there has to be some kind of problem with either the boost measurement or the actual map. Maybe it's not set at a higher PSI like it should. I don't know how many people have ran map 9, so it might have not been tested fully. |

Right after the shifts, and throttle closures, you will get the insignificant spikes, but during the middle of the pulls, it definitely doesn't go to 18psi sustained.
It does seem like the logs may show a little inflated boost numbers, but who knows? I pull my analog boost gauge signal right off the diverter vacuum lines. Here are the 91 oct/meth data logs though for those of you that are curious. The blue line is the boost line, and you can see the normal boost running pressure stays between the 14-16psi lines for 80% of the time, which still seems pretty mild for 118-119mph traps on a full weight 335i. I think the fact that this is only 2mph slower than the runs I did a few days ago with seats out and on high octane makes one wonder if all that work is worth it. I would say for a normal street vehicle no. If you are on the track competing against the times of other vehicles that have stripped interiors, than it probably makes sense. But something a little ligher than the heavy run flat setup would be a practical approach to lighter weight. FYI: This was a 118.4mph run (8mph cross wind) Last edited by hotrod182; 03-25-2010 at 03:42 PM.. |

Okay, so assuming I am not getting 17-18psi of boost like some others on map #9, i decided to see if there was any improvement to be had by raising the boost on map #1. There was a definite, measurable increase with mph now exceeding 119mph , stock weight/RFTs.
12.3 at 119.2mph 12.3 at 119.6mph And there was the run on this same high boost map, when I forgot to plug the meth pump in! 12.5 at 115.7 mph. That is amazing for a full weight car purely on 91 octane! Also goes to show how nicely the DME reacts, no hesistation, surging, etc.
