question about 02 sims and the dealer.

i take my car in for service every now and then but when i do i take the tune out. But very soon iall have down catless dps installed and iam going to need to install the 02 sims in the ecu. I have no problem leaving the dps on when i take it in for service but the only thing iam worried about is them finding something in the ecu. Any tips?

You should be OK for maintenance work. But for warranty claims i would go back to stock 100%.

Are you still running an exhaust with cats, or did you go catless with that too? You may not need 02 sims if that is the case. You will be at risk for anything engine related if you are not 100% stock. For instance, I recently had my car in for a HPFP and I left my DP's on. They had to update my software, so in your case, you would have been flagged or denied warranty work because they would have saw your tune and or o2 fix.

they don't open the ECU compartment for software upgrades. It it done through the ODB port. I recently had my car reprogrammed with JB3 and o2 fix in and had no problems at all.

the o2 sensors are in the downpipes. if you have catless downpipes you will need an o2 sim regardless of what you have downstream (ie secondary cats).

That being said, it takes a bit of time for the CEL to turn on while catless - its not instantly on.

Gotcha. Ive heard of people saying it was about 2 days before they got a CEL with no dp fix.

yeah, they don't come on for awhile after the intial installation, but once they do, they go off just about everytime you start the car.........if you clear it it'll still come back quicker then before

You do not need o2 sims for 2nd cat delete, only for the downpipes - there are some high-flow catted (HFC) dp that will cause SES and 29F4/29F5 codes depending on other mods, so o2 sims are necessary with a DP upgrade

Maintenance work such a oil changes or interior work don't require you remove anything. If your going in for engine/driveline work, then it is highly recommended to remove all traces of aftermarket parts.
