ICOM near Milwaukee?

I was curious if there might be anyone in the area that has an ICOM (with MOST) I could borrow. My '09 M3 needs the Integration Level updated so that the CIC can update maps over USB.

I'd be happy to give you something (cash, beer) for the trouble.

I know few guys around Chicago with Icom. None knows how to update CIC. Some even work at the local BMW dealer. I think they refuse to do the job because of high risk damaging the CIC. To borrow one would be just as challenging. My advise is to look for alternative way to update maps.

Thanks for the reply. The ICOM B (MOST) is needed to update all modules.

The car desperately needs an I-Level update as it is running original software, and my understanding is that many bugs were fixed since the version that is present. I would be using ISTA to do a full software update. Have any of them done this?

I would be updating maps using the normal method (USB) once the I-Level has been brought current. I wasn't planning to tinker around with the CIC aside from it being updated as part of the I-Level.

No, none of these guys that do side jobs. Mostly because of the risk. Is it a longer process. Power supply is required. I guess BMW dealer or competent independent mechanic shop would be your only option. I recently did CIC retrofit and hit a wall finding an Icom.

So you can bring the CIC to C1A. When on C1A you can wiped off donor car info and use your VIN for activation and maps upgrades.

No enet required either for maps. I just did two of these CIC retrofits. Anyhow, finding someone with Icom to update the CIC is a looooooong shot!
