AG M359's, Michelin PSS and scrubbing!!
I am looking at getting a set of AG M359's and fitting them with 275/30/19 Michelin PSS. The Michelin PSS typically has a wider tread than some other tyres in the same size. I am concerned they might scrub.
My car is a 2008 E92 335i M-Sport lowered on H&R Sports. The fenders have not been modified. The size of the M359's is 19x10 ET38. What I need to know is will this wheel and tyre combo fit without any scrubbing issues or will I need a fender roll? I know it will be close. I really wanted to go 275/30/19 in the rear as I will be 235/35/19 in the front and this would keep the overall tyre height the same at both ends.

C'mon gents.
No one has an AG M359 or AG M355 in 19x10 ET38 fitted with a Michelin PSS 275/30/19? From the research I have done it seems the consensus is that the Michelin PSS is the gun tyre. I have not found anyone that has complained of scrubbing with the above setup. This might not mean it hasn't happened with this particular tyre and size. I have contacted the guys at Avante Garde and have already bought the fronts from tirerack, but they could not be sure whether there would be an issue with the 275/30/19. I need to know if the 275/30 scrubs or not with an unmodified rear fender on an E92 before pulling the trigger on them. Considering the popularity of these wheels and tyres, someone on our forum must have had experience with this. If someone can chime in here I would be eternally grateful... .

I run the Continenal Extremecontacts DW at 275 width on a 19x10 ET38 VMR on stock sport suspension, and they fit perfect, never rub even at the track. I think you will be fine, even if the PSS's have a slightly bigger sidewall.

Thanks Racey. Do you have rolled fenders?

Nope, not needed for me. If you are lowered or are planning on lowering, then that could change things, but otherwise you should be good to go with that setup.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
As you know, there is some info regarding this on the forum. The thing is its not as easy as saying a 275/30/19 will fit on your car without knowing the entire setup. There is a thread "E92 coupe Offset information". There is exactly 500 posts in that thread with all sorts of information on offsets, tyre size, aspect ratios, camber angles, etc. dating all the way back from 2008 till now. I did not think that my setup would be that unique. I have decided to go with a 275/30/19 on a 19x10 ET38 on the rear with no fender mods. The consensus is that it "should" be OK. We shall see. I will update this thread when the wheels and tyres are on...Again, thanks for your help and replies gents.

you'll rub when going over dips on the highway and on hard turns. if you've never felt/heard tires rub, dont worry. it sounds worse than it really is. with a fender roll, you'll be fine.

I have the exact same setup VMR's and never rub, and I track and mountain drive the thing quite a bit...what makes you think he will?

My e92 (unless 328 and 335 have different track widths, which I don't think so) is lowered with 9.5" rears, +33 offset and had 255 width PSS tires. I rubbed on every big dip and during hard sweeping turns. My wheels are 0.5inch thinner width, but get pushed out only 5mm more and my tires were 20mm thinner in width too... and I rubbed. 275 width PSS are FAT. Just for reference also, when I was on stock sport suspension with the same setup, I never rubbed either.

Apologies for the late update. I'm still trying to sort this set up out. The 2 issues I have found are only very small.
With the PSS on AG M359's, 275/30/19 ET38 & 235/35/19 ET35 lowered on H&R sports I only experience very minor scrubbing on the right rear. It is not scrubbing on the guard, it is just touching the inner fender lining. There is hardly a witness mark on the tyre from where it rubs the fender liner, you only just hear it over large bumps. There is no rubbing on the left rear at all. The issue that I am trying to sort out is when I installed the H&R Sports i did so with a special bmw spring compressor suited to E9x. The spring compressor goes through the centre of the spring through the lower control arm and does not use 2 threaded bars either side of the spring to compress it. When I installed the springs this way, I measured the rear ride height and both sides were the same. The car was a little low and only scrubbed on the right rear. So I decided to install some Eibach Pro's as I knew the car would ride a little higher with them fitted. This time though I used a conventional 2 rod spring compressor. There was not enough room to remove the spring so i dropped the outer side of the lower control to give me more room. After reintsalling verything I measured the ride height, the left rear is now 1/2 inch higher on the left rear then the right. The car dis not scrub at all with the Eibach Pro's. The springs are not marked left and right. I also measured each spring prior to installing and they were both exactly the same height. I decided to go back to the previous set up that I knew had the rear level. With H&R springs installed they were also now 1/2 inch higher on the rear left than the right. I have had the springs in and out about 10 times trying sort out the difference in ride height left to right. Loosened everything, dropped car to make sure nothing was binding and then tightened everything on a four post hoist. Still no dice. The right rear still scrubs a tiny little bit on larger bumps. The scrubbing is progressivley getting better as the plastic fender liner wears and bends out of the tyre's way. It's interesting to note that the right front tyre rubs slightly on the oil cooler grill on full lock turning left and only when reversing. Checked suspension for play when driving forward and back. All other front end components show now movement. So I can't explain why this is. Apologies for the long winded summary. I thought it might be helpful to elaborate on my set up as other cars will probably differ to mine and any issues they might face will most likely very, very minor, if any issue occurs at all. So in summary, there is no rubbing on the guards at all front and back with H&R sports and Eibach Pro's. You might possibly find some very slight rubbing on the rear fender liner with the H&R sports. I imagine the right rear will cease scrubbing and disappear altogether in time. This is most likely just my vehicle and might not happen on other cars as I have read that a lot of people with my exact setup on an E92 do not scrub at all. Go for the PSS's with 275/30/19 and not the 265/30/19. The 275/30/19 PSS will: - fit better - look better filling out the guards more and looks really freaking tough when viewed from the rear - ride better with the slightly taller side wall - the rolling diamater is the same as the 235/35/19 on the front. The 265/30/19 will be shorter on the rear than what the fronts will be. Might not be an issue for most people but I like the front and back to be fitted with the same height tyre. The pro's far out weigh the con's as the probability of any issues occuring at all honestly will be small. IMHO opinion this is the perfect setup for pre-LCI E90's and E92's. Not sure about LCI E90's as they have less room in the rear.

I'm picking up some today. Will be test fitting, but I'm already worried about rubbing on the front. 19x9 ET 35. The rears are x10 with 265's on them, so glad to hear from this thread that i'll survive when i'm ready to move to 275. Lowered on H&R sports + SP Lowering Perches (so more like H&R Race springs on front)
