EBC Yellow Stuff Pads
I will be upgrading my pads in early May and have decided that I will go for EBC Yellowstuff pads.
Upgrading my brakes has been on my mind for some time as apart from the obvious safety advantages, i can go faster My plan is to upgrade the pads, brake lines and brake fluid which will give me more than enough stopping power. I have been looking to go down the BBK route but that is way over my budget at the moment. If you want reviews of these pads then please search this forum, online or the EBC website http://ebcbrakes.com/ Essentially, I believe that they will give me much more confidence and enable me to drive faster for longer. The EBC Yellowstuff pads are rated for street and track use, so they are a definite upgrade to the poor 335 OEM pads. The retail price for front and rear pads for my 335D is £231.20 including VAT. If i can get 5 people interested (for front and rear, so 10 units) then we can get 30% off so would cost me£161.84 including VAT. The 30% discount also applies to disks. I have asked my contact if we have more numbers will there be a possibility of a further discount, and he said that could be a possibility but would have to confirm with him. Also, if you don't have a 335 and want to participate, let me know, as i have been led to believe that we can get 30% off across the board. So if you are interested then please let me know; reply to this thread with the part numbers you need and for what car. The part numbers for my car are DP42006R (front pads) & DP41588R (rear pads), and i think the majority of 335's will be the same. But please confirm yourself what the part numbers are. To check , i just entered my vehicle registration number here: http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/ The provisional date i am looking to purchase these would be early May. The process would be to send me the funds and then i will buy them all together, and then post them out to you for a small fee to cover shipping, or you could come and collect from Northampton. Look forward to hopefully seeing some interest. I will keep a running tally of people in this post once there's some interest 1) mob17 - DP42006R (front pads) & DP41588R (rear pads) - PAID 2) Jedster - DP42006R (front pads) & DP41588R (rear pads)- PAID 3) notyetguilty - DP42006R (front pads) & DP41588R (rear pads)- PAID 4) rawbhp - DP42006R (front) & DP41588R (rear) -PAID 5) odariel - DP42006R (front) & DP41588R (rear) - PAID Last edited by mob17; 05-24-2013 at 11:45 AM.. |

So using the retail price of the part numbers you have given it comes to £179.22 including VAT, and after our group buy discount it's £125.45 including VAT. Regarding the performance of these pads, i have never used them personally but i have read a lot of good stuff about them. Hopefully someone else with experience of using these pads can comment. One thread that kind of made me decide was this one here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=819808 Please let me know once you would like to commit. No rush though as I will be ordering around the first week of May. |

I have spoken to my contact and disks can be included! The offer is the same, so 30% off the retail price. Just enter your reg at http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/ and you will see options for the front and rear disks. You will see a RRP EXCL VAT. Just knock off 30% and add the VAT. For example for my 335 there are 3 available disks, the EBC Standard Disks, Turbo Grooved Disks and EBC Ultimax Sport Slotted Disks. The Standard disks have a total retail price of £331.01 including VAT for front and rear disks. We could get them for £231.71 including VAT. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure the part numbers you quote are correct. A good way to check is entering your reg at the website quoted earlier. |

Mob, Thanks for that, I will have a quick look around their site when I have a bit of free time.
You are right the 335d and 335i brakes are the same. Anyone know how the EBC standard disks fair against OEM? |

To be honest i think our OEM 335i/d disks are pretty good from what i've read. But i have no idea what the EBC ones are like. Hopefully someone with experience can jump in here.

Not meaning to hijack your thread mob17 just info on other discs as Ive never used EBC discs so I can't really comment and Im not dissing them but I think they'r expensive, anyway I have used these on my other vehicle (Astra) and they are great and they come with an added on black or silver finish so no more rusty looking hubs or having to paint them http://www.mtecbrakes.co.uk/index.ph...ducts_id=15262 they are fantastic value for money and as soon as the beemer needs discs i'l deffo be going for these but I will be going for EBC pads though.

I currently use Red Stuff pads all around and slotted front rotors from ECS. I have solid rear Zimmerman Zinc-Coated rear rotors.
The red stuff pads are absolutely fantastic, but I would definitely not buy ECS rotors again, and don't recommend it to anyone else. Mine got warped very quickly after just one track day (no i did not sit with the brakes after a hot lap). The Zimmerman's are OEM quality. |

Id get some brake pads for 2006 320d E90, but from the above link only 2 sets are available - standard black ones and green stuff No point then to changing is there ?
What if I get the red stuff for E90 Alpina D3 2.0d ? The brakes are the same, arent they ?

The E90 Alpina D3 has excatly the same braking system so you can buy Alpina D3 red stuff or yellow stuff brake pads for your 320d With 30% off you are looking at around £100 for the complete front and rear brake pads. Ill think about it and thanks for posting ! PS. Which pads would you recommend for normal everyday use ? Yellows or reds ? Also which brake discs are better : Turbo Groove Brake Discs or EBC Ultimax Sport Slotted Brake Discs Thanks in advance

Mob it's probably me doing something wrong on the EBC site but for the pads combination you have the price comes up different to your prices.
1) mob17 - DP42006R (front pads) £127.92 & DP41588R (rear pads) £71.19 Total. £199.11. Not what you found. £221.24 If my figures our right the price less 30% is £140 not £154.87 |
