Hole in my brand new Michelin PSS - how close to the edge can you plug it?
FFFFAAAAACCCCCKKKKKKK !! I just got my brand new PSSs 2 weeks ago and now I have a hole in one. I guess I ran over a screw and it punctured the tire.
This is on the right rear, and close the the edge of the tire, not in the side wall, but in the bottom tread, but maybe 1/2" or 3/4" from the edge of the tire. The repair shop said they won't patch/plug it because the belts are there or something. I pleaded with them to do it to get me home and they did. My question is: What is my risk ? Why can't you go that close the edge of the tire to plug the hole? Do I need to replace the tire?

not sure. I had a screw puncture in the sidewall, plugged it and it was fine for another 5k before getting new tires. Guess it depends on the risk of getting stranded?

WHAT IS NOT COVERED Tires which become unserviceable due to: – Road hazard injury (e.g., a cut, snag, bruise, impact damage or puncture); I'll email them and see if they will replace the tire though... worth a try, thanks for the suggestion.
