I suspect they are doing a lot more than just rewriting the usual tables ROM. I think they have written the code to have multiple boost limit tables that they switch between by changing a byte somewhere. I don't believe they are actually changing between full tunes (ie, changing all the tuning related tables). But I don't know for sure since that's not my area of expertise.
