To radio usb plug after shutting car off? The iPod screen goes dim but not off. I've left it plugged overnight with no problems. its a hassle to unplug every time. Thx

Fairly certain that power stops flowing to the plug after you shut off the engine (it does to my cigarette lighter) and that is your iPod using its own power source to stay on.
I base this entirely on the fact that my external Sirius device shuts off when I turn off the engine but do not remove the key.

Well, I've noticed the screen (dimmed) on the iPod has a little roundel on it when plugged in above where it says ok to disconnect, so I thought it might be drawing current. Plus, I'm thinking if it says ok to disconnect, that might be from the radio therefore sending a signal to the iPod.

Mine has been plugged in 24/7 since I bought the car. I don't think there's anything to worry about but I'd be interested in hearing a definitive answer about it -- I had never really thought about it, and just assumed that if it was drawing current it was such a small amount that it wouldn't affect anything.

Considering that the tiny little battery inside the iPod can power it for quite some time, I have to think that a car battery could power one for MONTHS.
But I think this is a moot point, as at least on my 2011, all the power outlets shut off with the car, including the USB port. Could be different on an older car, of course. BMW does like to change things around.

The power is stopped like 5 mins or so when the car goes to sleep. If you noticed if u leave it plugged in and when u open the door the car wakes up and so does my iphone and i get the charging chime.

This is correct I believe; pretty much anytime you would be seeing the iPod actually on or powered by the car, the car is awake.. You would probably have to roll the window down, lock the car, wait a few minutes, reach in through the window and see if it's actually off.. But FWIW, mine is plugged in 24/7, and my car sometimes doesn't move for a week or two. (*sniff*)

I had an ipod classic plugged in with a Y cable in my old '07 24/7 for 3 years and never had a problem with the battery (on either the ipod or car) because of it. People around here worry too much.

Never any issues with the 2008 E90 and the iPod plugged in 24/7 for 2.5 years.
Never any issues with the 2011 E93 and the iPod plugged in 24/7 for 1.5 years. Most of the time the iPod will be fully charged anyhow driving the car around so if it is drawing energy, it wouldn't be for very long.

It stops drawing the current -- I've left mine plugged in over the weekend, and I came out to a dead Ipod (not dead car battery). If it continued to draw the current, my Ipod would have still had a charge.
