"Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has a zero-tolerance policy against cargo damage. This policy is enforced through best practices and continuous improvement of handling procedures through our Damage Prevention Programme, which ensures excellent quality of cargo handling and safe, efficient transport."

"... ensures excellent quality of cargo handling and safe, efficient transport" - did not look like that on the smashed M3 photos.

I wonder if all the damaged cars were removed in New Jersey, or just the damaged ones that were originally supposed to be unloaded there. For instance, will they be unloading damaged cars in Baltimore and then again in Charelston?

If you think about it, it seems to me that they would have unloaded the damaged cars all in one place. They certainly wouldn't leave bits and pieces lying around loose to fly about and damage more cars on the way to B'more and Charleston!

I agree, so the most logical thing would be to offload all the "Broken" cars at one location.

So if your CA tells you that your car didn't make it to SC, and the rest of us are notified of otherwise, then you know your car was one of the ones that didn't make it...

this is what I'm thinking...I called my CA to confirm the status....we'll see what he says...

Yes, but they may have decided to discharge the total losses in NY, but leave the scratched ones, and the ones with minor damages for SC, so they can repair them in the SC facility

I agree, but that is the normal process anyways, as far as I know. They repair the minor damages (dents, scratches, etc.) at the VPC before sending them to the dealers.

Not sure about this, but I believe the VDC in New Jersey is the place that would do most repairs. Were you thinking they would run a car through the assembly line in Spartanburg? That probably wouldn't work.

So normally a car that is going to Charleston, that receives damage during shipping, is offloading in New Jersey, and then is reloaded again and shipped to Charleston? I just thought all ports had repair centers.

Well, if you put it that way . . . maybe not. I do remember reading that all ED cars for the eastern US are off-loaded in NJ and processed through the VDC there. My car, for example, which is being redelivered in Spartanburg, was trucked there from New Jersey. A new car, on the other hand, would have been shipped by boat to Charleston. So it's probably true that new cars, at least, can be processed and repaired at any VDC.

Even so, I think the only reason they might have left a damaged car on the boat would be if they would have had to move hundreds of other cars to get it out. Which is certainly possible.

You could be right as well. Maybe all damaged cars get unloaded in New Jersey and processed there. Then they are trucked to the dealers. Anyway, I just hope mine and all the others cars on this board avoided damage.

I don't think my CA would know before they unload my car in SC. That's probably the case for all non-ED cars.

Bronco: try to think of it this way: no news is probably good news. The other positive thing is that I think BMW will be honest and forthright in keeping its customers unharmed as much as it can.

I just got this note from my CA:

"I received confirmation late yesterday that the Courage did encounter a
storm on its way over. Some vehicles were damaged. We are supposed to
have a list of the damaged vehicles from the port of New Jersey today.

I will be in touch with everyone as soon as I receive more information."

That's the first post here that confirms the incident. So he did not say the boat tipped at the port. The storm was the cause. That's what I thought as well.
There are two or three other people on the same boat checking that forum. Do you think you can ask your CA if we're on the list? I'll send you a pm with my VIN. Thanks. Fingers crossed.

He did not say anthing other than what I quoted, which was directly from the email he sent me.

I am not sure he's going to get all the VIN's, or just the ones from his dealership that were damaged. I will definatley ask though.
