I am talking about my '07 C6 Z06 that I just sold. I have no experience with prior model Vettes so I can't offer an opinion there.

Its probably a 3.0 or 3.2. Single Turbo. Loud as hell I can tell you that. His car was bucking very hard on every shift, some serious weight transfer happening.

there are 2 versions of the Z06, the C5 Z06 from 2001-04 and the C6 Z06 from 2005-present. The C5 Z06 runs low 12's in the 1/4 and have run high 11's in the hand of the right drivers in bone stock configuration. The C6 Z06 runs mid-low 11's right off the showroom floor and you see what it can do with nothing more than DR's. Both are well-known for their abilities on the track. BTW, the C6 Z06 ran the Nürburgring in 7:42 which is an incredible time for any car, much less one you can get for 70K.

actually that car is still AWD and it DID pull the wheels off. I guess Porsche's AWD is very rear wheel biased under hard acceleration??
Once that pic is posted up, I'll put it in here.

Agreed though. Hell... I feel that way about the 335i most of the time. My buddy has a C5 Z06 and he just got a twin turbo setup and clutch installed. He got a safe tune, put down 550whp, and ran an 11.8 @132mph on the stock tires on his first ever trip to the track with that car a couple of weeks ago. Basically he had no traction. We're actually heading to the track this coming weekend for me to do my first ever runs in the 335i and he's now got drag radials and a little more powerful tune. With that trap speed, he should be well into the 10s, so we'll see. But your point still stands... unless he tracks his car (road courses and drag strips) frequently, then that's a lot of money spent on power he can hardly ever use.

Thanks to those that came out despite the crappy weather and sorry for the long delay for prepping the track.
I had fun even though I only got a few high 11s passes in before using nitrous and being the first person I know of to break an axle on a CLK55! Mercedes wants $960 for the part and there are none in the country! :sad0147: Just to add to some of the awesome times run... There was a NA C55 that ran 12.2 (a record) and I think Sniz covered the rest. Here is the P car lifting the front wheels and this is NOT Scotts Protomotive car, it belongs to Mike (still AWD) Remember that P cars have the engine in the back and have a "light" nose: The red E36 is a 2.8L engine with a single turbo. He made 996whp with a boost leak. The car is INSANE! He just has alot of trouble getting traction even without being on high boost and not using the nitrous (which he also has). Like Sniz mentioned, most of these cars are street driven which is incredible to me. |

In fact the Renault 21 Turbo and one of my Renault 5 Turbos were purchased in England and my name is also Carlos. Last but not least, I also have tons of pictures from Santa Pod from when I used to race my 911(964) red Porsche Carrera 4 Cabriolet. Last edited by Evo8MRto335I; 11-14-2007 at 01:00 PM.. |
