FM Switching issue? Y/N: Y
6FL with(out) idrive: with iDrive
ipod?: brand new 30g video
USB Flash?: no
Production date?: 4/3
Bluetooth?: yes

I've had all the problems described: random switching to FM from the first day I picked it up, switching to FM when the car sits overnight, not recognizing the iPod after the car's been shut off until I unplug the USB and plug it back in. In fact, when mine switches to FM on its own, it doesn't recognize the iPod from that point until I unplug/replug. Fun while driving. I have an additional issue: I have no FM or AM reception until I've driven 30-40 minutes. Well, I have no FM or AM reception at all now that the dealer has been working on it. Awaiting a "splitter" to see if that fixes the reception issue. Oy!

Please refer to my post on the last page. post #42. The dealer will probably have to order an M-ULF-High so expecct the car to be in the shop atleast 2 days.

Today at work I replaced an MULF2-High with a production date that was out of the bulletins dates. By production date they mean production date of the MULF not the vehicle. I replaced one on a car that was over 2 weeks out of the range. And yes it did fix the problem and works flawlessly now

That means ill be replying back to puma to tell them to update that bulletin as there are more affected MULF's than they think.

Hope that helps you guys out a little...

I totally agree with you 1clean335i but before the Bulletin from BMW we had very little to go on.

At least now we can tell our SA's that others outside the build date on the bulletin are also having trouble.

Thanks for posting and confirming the fix! :rocks:

Yup - I have the problem too

FM Switching issue? Y/N: Y
6FL with(out) idrive: with iDrive
ipod?: iPod Nano (original version not aluminum)
USB Flash?: no
Production date?: 6/07
Bluetooth?: yes

My FM switching started the minute I left the dealership. Litterally on my way home. Thought is was some issue with my iPod or just the iPod case preventing a complete connection.

Don't know what all the variations on the MULF are that have been posted. My service order says M-ULF 2 (ULF-SBX) Module.

6fl Fm Switching Poll

Hello everyone, i have been having the exact same problem. I got my new 335i convertible on Apr 4, 2007. At first i tought i had done something to make it jump FM. But after a few times of this, I knew something was not right.

here is my information:

FM Switching issue? Y/N: Yes
6FL with(out) idrive: with Idrive
ipod?: Nano 8GB
USB Flash?:
Production date?:March 2007
Bluetooth?:yes

i called the dealer and asked them if there were any service update on this issue or perhaps a recall. First i was told that no one had yet complaint about this. Then the service agent looked online for any recalls and found a document about something that seems related to this. She made me and appointment to come in next monday.

Apparently I need a hardware replacement of some sort and a Software upgrade.

let you know what happends next week.

6fl Fm Switching Poll - Problem Solved

Hello Guys,

dropped off my car early this morning at the dealer for the hardware and software upgrade.

Picked it up this afternoon and hurray!!! everything works!!!!:rocks:

plugged in my Ipod Nano 8GB and drove all the way home with no problems, even the bluetooth sound better.

The invoiced is not very specific about the details of the upgrade, but i asked my SA and she explained it was a hardware replacement due to factory defect and upgrade of CIP.

they installed version 26.0, everything works now!!!!
by the way this is a factory recall notice on all BMW with produced until March 2007 , with the new 6 FL ipod adapter, SO NO CHARGE FOR THE UPGRADES OR LABOR!!!

You mentioned the dealer installed Version 26.0? Is this the iDrive version? What should I tell my dealer exactly if you want to have the same change?

Are some of you saying that a software upgrade is all it takes to fix this issue? Like getting 26.0 installed?

I should be picking up my car in less than a week... I hope I don't have the switching problem.

M Switching issue? Y/N: Yes
6FL with(out) idrive: With idrive
ipod?: Ipod 80 GB
USB Flash?: Never tried using
Production date?: March 2007

Mine has never cut to FM during iPod playback, but intermittently starts in FM mode after being off for hours or even minutes. On one occasion, it got stuck in a 'reading data from device' loop, and it took a reset of my iPod to restore things - unplugging and re-plugging wouldn't cut it.

Yes this is the IDRIVE software.

first you have to let them know there is a problem with your IPOD, jumping to FM occassionally.

they should be able to look it up in the system and find the recall notice. the upgrade involves hardware and software. i am not sure what the hardware is ..but apparently there is a faulty piece form factory.

Its software and hardware, there is a faulty hardware problem from factory.
my S.A. explain they had to order the special part one week in advance so they can do the upgrade.

I asked them for the IDrive software version and they confirmed 26.0

I took my E93 to my UK dealer this morning armed with the service bulletin SI B84 11 07, but they couldn't find it in their computer systems??? Anyway, BMW UK are aware of the issue and it appears that Progman 27.0 will resolve this issue. The only question is when the new software will be released!

My new (June built) car was having the FM switch problem, so I took my car in the other day, told them what was happening, and got it back the next day with a new MULF, no questions asked.

It would appear that they have this issue figured out, and the knowledge seems to have filtered down.

I can confirm that v27 is the solution quoted to me too. My dealer expects it to be released in mid September.

What now?

I am having this problem. I had the car in the shop and they could not figure it out. They hope that a new software update will fix this problem. They hope to have the new software later this month. I do not believe they tried replacing this hardware everyone refers to. What can I do? I am living in Germany, driving a US specs car. Does this fall under BMW NA or BMW Europe????
