Markham/Thornhill/Richmond Hill Mechanic

Just wanted to recommend a "North" end mechanic for you guys. I've used Bimmersport before with good service. Didn't have a good experience with RMP. In any event, as I get older, I have less energy to make the trek out to Mississauga...

Was going to go back to Trevor in Richmond Hill, but I think he's no longer in business?

At Gabe's recommendation, I tried out Alphawerx in Thornhill (John St.). Great service. Good prices. It was for my E46, but I'm sure he can and does handle E90's, +++, with ease. Surprised that his tire prices are in line with Simply Tire's, so going to get my summer set from him.

So, a thumbs up for Darren at Alphawerx. Finally, a good local BMW Factory Trained mechanic. No relationship with him or his shop. Unfortunately, I pay retail just like you guys!

+1 been going to Darren for a a bit over a year now and he's great to deal with. He definitely does do e90s. Was in the same boat as you where I didn't want to head out to the west end whenever my car needed something done. He has a good reputation over at Max bimmer as well. The shop recently changed name to DC Motorwerx.

I have used Matt for large and small things. I would deff recommend him to forum users. His prices are unbeatable. His place is located behind the tire/wheel shop (I believe its a Active green and Ross) at Hwy 7 and Bowes Rd. (Hwy 7 and Keele St. as stated above.)

Again he only has 2 lifts so its a very small shop but he has fixed issues that other popular mechanics could not (ECM based).

I dont think he does things like programming though.

I found his website (it was like a needle in a hay stack) but dont judge him by looking at his website, the website is horrid.

EDIT: Its kinda funny, when I was new on this forum, I suggested Matty and his shop and people pretty much chirped me saying things like "I would never bring my car to a place like that blah blah", even though he drives a M5 and the first time I was there he had a E46 M3, E90 M3, and a very nice E90 335 in front of me.

I agree, his shop is tiny but always busy. He is efficient with his time and would tell you if he isn't able to do something. Like I said before he wont touch programming for 2006+ BMW. Otherwise he charges a great rate and is freindly

Sorry for not responding to the various inquiries people have been sending me...just not on here as much.

Here's the info for Darren:

Darren Cho
Mobile: (416)722-6268
BBM: 28EA0DDB
Email: darren.cho@alphawerxauto.ca

DC Motorwerx
371 John St. Unit#4, Markham, ON L3T 5W5

Surprised I got a better deal on tires from Darren than quoted by Simply Tire.

Thanks for starting this post. I was going to write something very similiar! I will definitely reach out to these guys in the east end. Have grown tired of the drama with a few of the once popular indie shops around the GTA.

I'll give a MASSIVE thumbs up for Darren at Alphawerx. He's a stand-up guy and someone I can definitely trust implicitly. I used to be a Bimmersport customer, but have since moved away from the area and now live 10 mins away from Darrens shop so it was a convenience for me.

After having him work on a few things (gaskets, suspension mods etc.) I can honestly say that he goes out of his way to make you happy. The best customer service I've ever experienced.

Darren himself is a trained BMW specialist and is very intelligent and good at what he does. He takes the time to explain every step he has to take and does an incredibly THOROUGH and professional job with everything he works on (no matter big or small).

His prices are fair but the thorough job he does, makes it a bargain and a half.

A+++++

A big shout out to Darren at Alphawerx!!!!

Just spent the morning at his shop having the following things done as I requested:

Oil & Filter
Brake Fluid
Manual Transmission Clutch Fluid
Interior Cabin Filter
Engine Air Filter
Engine Coolant
Power Steering Fluid
Manual Transmission Gearbox Oil
Differential Oil
Spark Plugs

His proficiency, professionalism and the fact that he is a genuinely good guy puts him at the top of my book moving forward.

Highly recommended!
