Need an answer.....please

I just detailed a brand new 350z. The paint had the basic swirl and car lot bad wash job scratches on it. As I'M buffing the car I'M noticing my pads turning the color of the car.....a nice red. No car I have ever done has turned my pads the color of the car.

So my question. Why is this happening? Does Nissan add color to their clear coat?

The car turned out nice but I have no idea why my pads had a new color on them.

Thanks guys.

PS. It was not from buffing to aggressively. It was when I did my first pass with PO106FA with an orange pad.

Same thing happened to me with a very neglected car I detailed. I don't know why the 350Z would have this though. Perhaps the very top layer was softened immensely. What got on your pads is the pigments in the paint. I'd advise against using those pads again.

On the car I worked on that did the same thing, I could rub the color back in with a foam applicator and some light polish.

Some Nissan's had some weird clear coats. Google Nissan clearcoat. I know they are notoriously soft during certain years

If it was "Nogaro Red", then it is a 3-stage paint. I wouldn't know for certain until I got to work, but there is a good chance that it is a 3 stage using a tinted clear which is where the color was coming from on your pads, not from the color coat itself.
