Weird problem with my car (n55)
So I wake up Sunday morning, get dressed for work and walk over to my car. Try to turn it on and nothing. Car won't turn. Weird thing is I got 0 error codes. Plugged in my laptop. No codes. The car would keep trying to start unless I took my foot off the pedal..
Tried again at night, reset everything on my procede etc, still wouldn't turn. Fast forward to right now. I went out side, unlocked the car and I noticed something. The pump wasn't priming. Anyone with a n55 knows that when you unlock your car it starts priming itself( you can hear it). So I reset everything again on the command center, plug in the laptop and try to turn it on again. Still nothing and no codes. So I tried the old pump the throttle method and for some reason it worked... I tried turning it on and kept my left foot on the brake, right foot pumping the gas, low and behold the bitch turned on. Went for a drive, zero codes, no limp, no hiccups.. Any other n55 owners go through this before??

Yeah, the pump still isn't priming. I'm wondering if I let it sit over night if it will fail to start again...

Even when I bypass the procede, it doesn't prime. I'll try and take it off 2morrow. Damn thing is a bitch to remove.

Wonder if it's battery related??? You drive the car every day right? I guess you had power for the car to crank ... So on the other hand it may be a bad connection or a failing pump

I believe mine has stopped priming as well. Getting random stalls in first and second daily now. Pulling my Procede this weekend and making an appointment with the dealer. Haven't checked for codes but I haven't gotten any dash lights or limp mode. Just suddenly loses power/stalls like it isn't getting fuel. 3500 miles here.

^ i dont think it has anything to do with the tunes or mods. i think it may be dealing with the priming. ill going to pull the pocede off tonight and take the car in tomorrow.

Sorry to hijack your thread but figured it may be relevant. Little update... Set map zero yesterday just to see if anything was different... Pump did prime, car started fine. No issues on the way to work but it is a short drive at 8 miles. Not suggesting it is the tune (worked fine for months) but I do want to rule
It out. Will keep driving like this for a few days and see if I keep having problems. Was planning to pull my tune anyway as I understand there may be a new software update I should get before I install my FMIC. What software version are you running shockin? |

@ Shockin330i Weird how that is happening, mine has 12k miles and I have only (Not tune related) experienced long crank a couple times. I hope you get your situation resolved. |

Just an FYI, I believe the pump should only prime if the fuel pressure sensor reads no (or little) pressure. Once pressure is built, it does tend to maintain for a little while when the engine is turned off. But I would imagine that first thing in the morning (when the car hasn't been driven all night), you will always hear it prime. But just because it doesn't for some reason, doesn't mean that the HPFP is failing.
