Just booked a place at Snetterton
Just though I would share,
I have been on track before with other cars, ie red letter days etc, never in my own! I have booked a taster session at snetterton and am more than a little excited to finally get the 335 on the track. 29th march. 25 pounds for the session approx 20 mins seems pretty reasonable to me! Anyone done anything similar, any tips for the track?? |

Hope you enjoy it
My only drawback would be the small amount of time on track - 20 mins is barely enough to even learn the circuit. For about £100-150 you could book a track day there. http://www.focusedevents.com/car_event_info.asp?ID=227 This would give you a whole day on track in an open pitlane format. This basically means you can go on and off the track all day as and when you please. You arrive early on, have a drivers briefing before doing 3 sighting laps behind a pace car. The session is then opened (normally shuts for 1 hr lunch) and you can then concentrate on getting used to the car on track, learning the track (it's cambers and corners, etc..) and getting used to the racing lines. I did Donington last Sunday and it was raining in the morning. Took a good couple of hours to actually learn the circuit and get close to getting the corners right. The afternoon session had dried out and was nice and sunny. With a lot more confidence I could actually push the car quite hard. Can't imagine travelling all the way to only do 20 mins though |

Driving all the way to snett for 20 mins is madness pal! I'd go straight for an open pitlane or tuition as above
You'll still love it. But at the end of 20mins you will be so annoyed you don't have more time. You'll JUST be starting to work the track /car out properly and have to go in!

Would tend to agree with all the above comments, You'll struggle to get the car warmed up in that time. Enjoy it, I'm sure you'll be spending a small fortune on track days in future

You will love it! I enjoyed Snetterton alot. It's pretty fast also. The Bomb hole and Coram are exciting also.
Just make sure your Tyres are in good nick and also check oil and water level before commencing the track day. Also maybe look into insurance as your company won't cover you. It will probably only cost a small amount considering it's a taster session. Have fun and report back after!

DXB sound advice, I shall heed!
Everyone else, thanks I know its a short time, but first time/ taster session, plus a chance to drive on roads outside the m25 there and back, im not too fussed. - i have no doubt the bug will bite! The novice days do seem to get booked up quickly, and this was the earliest opportunity i have to give it a crack. Full day w/open pit next. Anyone have preferences on tracks? I like the sound of the mini nurburgring at Cadwell park |

Cadwell is a fantastic track. But there really is only one "Nurburgring"!!! Once you have done a trip, you won't want to do another UK track day again! LOL

Just a bit worried about tracking it tbh. Plus after factoring the costs involved it may be worth doing a driving experience, though you have far less driving time but with none of the risk. I take it you don't have to be a member of the BMW Club to go? On a side note, is anyone a member of that, would you recommend it? |
