It varies between the E90 (sedan) and E92 (coupe). I can't speak for the coupe, but the sedan LCI (life cycle impulse) started with the 2009 model year. The main differences were revised front end, headlights, hood and taillights. It also was the first opportunity for the M-Sport on the sedan in the US. 2009 was also the first year for a HDD based Nav (versus DVD). I believe there were some minor tweaks to the interior for 2010 as well, but I think I hit on the major items.

Are the angel eyes more yellow in color, or blue in color? That will tell you right away, because the angel eyes on the LCI are a lot more bluish.
Also, biggest change is obviously the switch from the N54 to the N55 motor. Sedan or Coupe? |

Sedan doesn't have blueish rings in LCI, even up to 2012. Also 2009 sedan has N54. LCI doesn't mean it has N55, which appeared in 2010. 2009 and above sedan does have hdd based navi called CIC, with more buttons on the i-drive controller.
