Plasti Dip Some Parts

Guys,

I am in the process of Plasti Dipping a couple of parts.

OEM 17 inch Rims on 328i ( Plasti Dip Matte Black )
Side View Mirrors ( Matte Black )
Grill ( Matte White Lip )

I have heard good things about Plasti Dip products and seen other work done the same way. I know it isnt permanent but the part that draws me is that its easy to put on and can take off whenever I dont want it.

If some of you guys have already done some work like this please let me know or post pics. I can take all the tips that can be given. I am doing it myself so please help me out.

Also Adding some front carbon fiber splitters to the car

Pics coming soon...

Other Mods:
Aftermarket White Halos (4500 K)

Emblem Overlays Matte Black and White
HID H3 Conering Blub ( 4500 K )
HID H8 Fog Lights ( 4500K )

I've been thinking about doing this as well. What colour is your car? There's a DIY for plastidip grills http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=plastidip
and wheels (just google how to plastidip rims) but I've never seen anyone do it on their side mirrors. I'd say wrapping them would be a better choice though.

I did my front grill about 3 months ago. Easy application, looks great, no chipping, peeling, or fading yet. It took about 20 minutes worth of actual work, so even if it only lasts 6 months, so what, do it again! Dont sand anything. Just tape off and spray on. Do thin coats. It took me about 3 coats to do the grills.

you should plasti dip your whole car, if you don't like it, peel it off.

I did my front grille about 6 months ago when I did my LCi conversion and it still looks the same now as when I 1st did it.

I've also done a few parts on my bike too, but it doesn't seem to peel as easy as people think though.

I did my cousins G37 rims, juss make sure to clean the rims well and dry them off. then hit them with 3 thin layers of it.. tape off any areas you dont want to get it on...

Very easy to use, an amazing product for sure.

Taking it off is easy as peeling, but some areas are tight and hard to pell away, use some gasoline or goo gone, and a microfiber, comes off like butter

Do you think Plasti-Dip would be a good option for coating my peeling Steering Wheel trim? I've got the Sport Wheel trim ( with chrome edge) and there's some peeling starting near the left buttons.

You can use that. I had the same problem. I plasti diped and decided i did not like it in the interior though. So i bought some matte black vinyl for $5 and covered it. Looks great!

is the rest of your car matte black? it would look dumb to have matte black "reflectors" while the rest of the car is shiny black/blue/red/gray/etc.

plasti-dip is becoming more popular for those looking for a temporary change.

Here's a video of someone that did their VW GTI wheels.

Did you plasti dip the rims yet? I want to see how they turned out. I have the OEM 17" rims as well, considering doing the same.

Doesn't come out right for large areas unless you can spray very evenly
