usually Top Tier premium gas.

Dealer recommended that I throw some Top Tier midgrade gas in the car for the next tankful though, to help get rid of any carbon deposits I may have (my car's got a bit of a vibration at idle). They also mentioned to avoid Shell (go figure)

super 93, and I agree with you hunter399....only the best brand of gas, mobile, shell,bp,chevron, etc. (none of those gas for less places). My uncle has been a GM mechanic for over 20 years and has his own shop now, and cannot stress the damage that cheap gas does to your fuel injectors. It could cut the injectors life in half. Only give your car the best.

Hello all,

I am not a specialist in in gasoline cars as I am actually driving a diesel...

But I used to drive a gasoline car and in France we can only choose between Sans Plomb 95 and SP 98 (without plumb 95 or 98). I think that 95 and 98 numbers refers to the octane percentage. In Switzerland and Germany it is the same you mostly find only 95 and 98.

I am surprised, this would mean that the gasoline we have here in Europe is quite a good one... And all the new cars documentation (even for cheap cars) recommend to use only the SP 98, so I believe that it would be the same for the e90.
It would be nice if someone from europe could give some feedback and may also check the user documentation to see what is recommended by BMW in Europe...

In europe BMW reccomends 98 for the best power and fuel consumption from your E90

( Dont get confused, the USA uses a different way of showing octane at their pumps, and their 94 is close to Euro 98 )

My fuel cap says 95, 97, 98 & 100+ RON.

I'd love to buy some 100+!

I use Tesco's 99RON wherever I can get it.

Talking

93 Chevron Techron here + 1.5 oz of ETHOS FR.... 45 MILES MORE PER TANK BABY!!!!

my last car was an accord and for 2 years i used nothing but exxon 89 in my car. took my car in for a tune up and the mechanic said wtf gas have you been using in your car? it's filthy! and that's when i switched to chevron. but technically exxon and chevron are the same co and the prices are comparable, but cheveron's usually a couple cents more. anyone know how they formulate or refine them differently????
