First major snowstorm in NYC

Saw a lot of accidents including one right in front of me.

The one thing I noticed was how many BMWs still had their summer tires on. I must have seen at least 10 BMWs stuck on the side of the road slipping and sliding.

are run flat tires all season ? cuz my bro has it and i was wondering if he was in danger of slipping or oversteering a lot. its true it doesn't snow in LA but it is getting pretty rough here also.

I saw 2 M3s and a bunch of 3-series sedans where I park this morning, all with 19s/18s summer tires.

I barely cleared the storm on the way to work, my winter tires are on. Can't wait to go back, dig out the car and test the LM22s. I want to see how the M3s will get home tonight!

I had a AWD 3er almost hit me from behind when I had to turn into the subdivision. You can't steer or brake worth a a darn without decent tires.

Even here in MA, I am shocked at how many 3er's I see still driving on their summer tires. Even if they have another car to drive during snow storms, those tires are horrible in these temps.

How are the LM25s?

I'm still debating on whether to get dedicated snow tires or all seasons.

I'm leaning towards the snow tires because the Yokohama all seasons I had were terrible.

The LM22s shined tonight, got home in one piece, no sliding, no probs whatsoever with RWD. I just had to remember to start in 2nd gear to avoid wheelspin.
I'm very impressed.

Saw lots of cars abandoned on the side of the highway, including 3ers.

I have an Xi. The first snow we got I still had my summer tires on. Almost got killed twice. Slide into 2 intersections and barely missed a truck. Bottom line, summer tires are not meant for winter. Got a set of winter tires and you will be happy. I swear by these things ever since I got them on my G35 coupe.

LM25's are awesome and they handle great in the wet and dry too.

I drove home from work yesterday at 5pm with my 335 coupe w/19" runflats without a problem at all. I was very surprised. I just took it slow and used the clutch to slow me down by down shifting. Granted most of the trip was highway driving but it really wasn't bad.

i hope to god you guys arent out driving on summer tires, When I was driving yesterday I also saw people abandoning cars on the side of the road in CT, and some dumbass in a 328i was trying to pass ppl on the highway and was slipping and whatnot. I was driving my mom's x3 which thankfully got new tires put on earlier this week, so it was fine.

I'm sure its much better today but drive safely guys, I think more has to do with the driver than the tires, but tires def help. ie. you cannot go up a 45 degree incline from a dead stop with summer tires in a RWD car (I saw ppl doing it, needless to say they were the ones creating the traffic)

I've been driving my car for 3 yrs. with summer tyres, no real problems except I got stuck on a hill once, no accident nor slipping into intersections. You have to be driving real fast for that to happen, or you really need to get your brakes pads changed.

It is very true half the people with bmws don't know how to drive their cars in the winter, last year was especially fun when I was on queens Blvd. , so many bmws going sideways and I saw g35 all wheel drive do a 360 in the middle of the road what a trip.

I drove 30 miles this morning (round trip) to the doctor no problems, 19" csl + summer tyres, went into a corner too fast back end slid out but dsc was there to correct the problem

if you don't know what to do, yes I definitely suggest keeping the car at home, too much counter steering involved driving with summer tyres :-P
