E92 Rear Center Console Removal/USB/AUX replacement

Did this flying blind since I couldn't find a write up with photos before hand. If anyone knows a shorter method on how to do this and have photos to add please feel free to do so. Took me about 2hrs because I didn't know what I was doing. Someone with experience could probably knock this out in a half hour to an hour. Attempt at own risk.

Center piece will not go back in without you removing at least one of the seat cushions. (I took out both because I got a little frustrated at this point)

This clip was a pain, not enough pressures, won't budge, too much pressure and it could break.

These came out upside down for some reason, apologies.

Make sure this piece goes back in correctly also.

Put your hand through the bottom to help push up on the AUX clip. If you have someone with small hands to help with this part even better. If you have large hands or fingers you're more than likely only going to be able to push up on one side of the clip

Fin

Again, if anyone knows a more efficient way to do this please contribute (with photos lol). Hope this helps.

If you're just replacing the aux/USB port, you can pry it up on one side with a thin flat tool, now that it's sticking out a little , you can grab it with a pair of pliers and yank it out. The pliers will scuff up the aux port but since I you're replacing it, it doesn't really matter.

Need one of these DIY for the E90. I've cut my hands to many times trying to get the center console off to fix the cheap USB plus that fell into the center console

I went to plug my iPod usb cable into the aux/aub port and the port became detached and fell through the console. Everything still works but I cannot seem to get the part out of the console to try and re-attach. Help please. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is to take it apart again and put the usb/aux pub in through the top. Did you purchase through the dealership? I know on the one they gave me the ends are a bit longer so that it can't fall through.

Mine came installed when I ordered my car back in 2007.

I did the same thing when my aux jack fell in, I pulled it out with a pair of needle nose pliers but I used a small piece of cloth to protect the aux port so i can reuse it.

Yes. You'd have to retrofit 6FL or combox.

All, There is a thread here that shows how to wrap your broken USB/AUX jack with a zip tie to prevent it from falling back into the hole. It actually looks pretty acceptable. The faulty part is the center console itself more often than the actual jack.
