Why is my car riding lower?

I’ve lived at the same place for nearly two years and beginning two days ago my car scrapes when I leave. There’s a hump connecting the driveway to the road and my car scrapes in the middle as if its high centered. I have never once scraped and now it happens every time. What’s going on? I’m on stock suspension (e92). I’ve got 100k miles on it now and I’m wondering if it’s just worn out and starting to sag. Had new tires put on and a 4 wheel alignment done the day before this all began but the replacement tires were the exact same size. Anyone have any ideas?

Same psi in tires? Too much of a coincidence that this starts day after new tires are installed.

Yep same psi. I thought coincidence too so I called and asked them the same thing, they had no idea either.

could be tires, or could be a set of worn out suspension, which is common by that mileage.

My car feels lower too. Pretty sure my shocks are done because the car now feels like it floats on the highway.

if you're still on the original stock shocks at 100k, im betting it's that.

If you bought a different brand of tire that is probably the cause, considering it was basically the same time this started to happen. Shocks and struts do not change ride height, coil springs do. Not saying the coils haven't sagged slighted over the years also.

Could be the tires, could be the suspension sagging. When were the shocks and struts replaced last? I am still a little new to the E90's but do the springs start to sag on these cars after some time or use?

100k miles is about right to change the shocks depending on the roads you generally drive on.

Sounds like a coincidence that you're scraping right after you swap tires though. I would double/triple check the tire size and profile.

I woudlnt be surprised if the ground is settling and the angle between your driveway and the road has changed. That will do it. It has been happening in my neighborhood. The angle of my driveway has changed by about 5 degrees since we moved in.

Possibly putting the car on a lift and the shocks being extended fully and then lowered back down, possibly breaking the seal on the hydraulics and causing them to be totally broken. 100k on shocks is a long time.
