Confused about I-Drive

Hello everyone,

I have been researching my car I-drive system and need some help from folks on here. My car was ordered on 12/26/10 and received in March 2011. Does my car has a combox? What is a combox? How come I can't see album art when playing my ipod? Can't play music thru bluetooth? Is there a way to get internet on my i-drive?

Hi! Your car has Combox but not ConnectedDrive(6NR). Coding will enable album art and bluetooth A2DP

Your car does have the combox. If you have a USB in the armrest, just plug in a white apple cable into it, the other end into your ipod/iphone and cover art will show up, no coding necessary Cover art does not show up using the Y-cable.

Your car will stream Bluetooth. You have to pair it and it will work.

I turned on the bluetooth on my iphone to use the phone in the car. How do I get it to streamed music????

You do have to have the USB (option 6FL)in the armrest, so I hope your car has that. If it does, then your definitely will get the artwork with the white cable. You can have just the little box, and you can have the cover art in the split screen on the right.

It's been a long time, but I remember having to sync my bluetooth music somewhere in idrive IN ADDITION to having to sync it to my car to use my phone. I remember this because I couldn't understand why I couldn't stream bluetooth music, even though my phone was paired to my car. I did a little exploration in the music section of idrive, paired bluetooth music and now it works perfectly, even though I don't stream too much (I keep a dedicted big-azz ipod permanently plugged in). I'll look when i am in my car after work.

Try page 172 in the OM, Bluetooth audio* Pairing and connecting. My wife had her iPhone paired up but it didn't work until she followed these instructions. I think she actually shut Bluetooth off and paired it with the audio directions then back on.

If you have A2DP, you must check box Bluetooth Audio in the CD Section, then Pair your Phone

It seems to me that your salesperson was not that good in explaining your car at delivery: use Apple USB white cable for Album Art.

I tried connecting my ipod (1st generation) with the apple cable and it does not even worked. I then tried it with my friend's current ipod and it works perfectly with album art. I guess I can't do it with my ancient ipod (still work like a charm though).

I will try your advice on bluetooth streaming. Thanks for all your advice.

One last question. How do I go about getting "coding" to get all the other functionality of my idrive, ie internet, apps, and so forth.
